The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Garmin Rino 655t GPS/2-Way Radio:
After relying on a completely antiquated etrex for years I finally made the leap to this thing. This gps is awesome. Its rugged, easy to figure out and has tons of functions.
I was a little concerned about the touchscreen at first because I didn't want to end up in the woods freezing to death with fingers too cold to operate the screen (Think iPhone, ever tried to use one with numb fingers?). Anyway, this doesn't seem to be an issue with this unit because the screen is pressure sensitive rather than biometric, if that makes sense. it even works with gloves on.
The only things I can think of to criticize are that it is bulky and super expensive. I don't really mind the size too much, but with today's technology I think it could be made way smaller and lighter. When Using the 4xAA battery pack (sold separately-40 bucks or so) the size and weight increase even more. As for the price, well I guess good stuff just costs more, but it seems a little excessive for my gps to cost as much as the gun I carry on my hip when i'm deep in the woods.
Overall I definitely would recommend this gps for the serious outdoorsman. It sure lends a feeling of security when i'm well off the beaten path to know exactly where I'm at

Comments about Garmin Rino 655t GPS/2-Way Radio:
This has a "first generation" satellite imagery background, but it's a paid subscription. This allows you to download small area specific and defined maps from Google Earth to the device so you can "see" exactly what's around you albeit the imagery can be old at times. Another great feature of this radio is the ability to plan on a Mac/PC. Using included software, you can recover data from the GPS and overlay it onto Google Earth or 1D map. You can also input data to the GPS so that makes for an easy route and planning. As far as the price- well Garmin doesn't have any competition in this market and they can charge about as much as they want so look on [@] and [@] to compare. With the micro SD cards ever increasing size and more and more powerful micro processors coupled with cheap manufacturing costs in China - updates will come fast and furious so in a couple of years this radio will be obsolete anyway.

Comments about Garmin Rino 655t GPS/2-Way Radio:
One of the dangers of any multi-use devices is complicated operation. I did not find that to be the case with the 655t. I was able to get it up and operational in a few minutes, and had custom map overlays downloaded within a few days. Does what it says it will do. Have not tested battery life extensively yet, but have not had any problems. it's a bit hefty, but so am I, so no problems there!!!

Comments about Garmin Rino 655t GPS/2-Way Radio:
My primary use for the 655t is hunting/fishing, atv riding and as well as work in the field. The touch screen is great, fast and simple. But I do miss the cursor botton when surfing the map. I feel it would benifit this window more than the touch system. An easy graduation from the 530cx. The camera is an o.k. addition but remember the gps so as not to disclose your secret spots when relaying pics to friends. Over all, "A step in the right direction". Thanks Garmin

Comments about Garmin Rino 655t GPS/2-Way Radio:
I use the GPS on archaeological survey and site recording. I had the previous Rino (the high end one, don't remember the number) and after four years the radio stopped transmitting well. People had a hard time hearing me. After utilizing the REI 100% Satisfaction Gauruntee I received my new one in the mail. It works great! The radio works and the new touch screen is amazing. I miss not having the one button that takes me straight back to the map screen from wherever I am. Aside from that I'm happy.
