      It is really light. I haven't really noticed the advantage in ventilation over my Giro Stylus which I got 2 years ago for almost 1/4 the price of the Aeon. Better fitting than others I have tried in the past.

        I ride everyday. I replaced a crashed IONOS that I liked a lot. I like the Aeon better. I was looking at another IONOS, I really liked it. The AEON is surprisingly lighter. Much better padding. Really the AEON has all that the IONOS has but is better in everyway. Get one.

        This helmet replaces a Bell Sweep which after many years of service still worked well but needed pads replaced etc. I ride about 3000 miles a year and need great equipment to keep me safe. The GIRO's colors now match my riding kits and now complete my desired look on the road. The Aeon is pricey, but REI had this really great sale where I saved tons so I actually bought two for almost the price of one.

        I have worn this helmet 3 times, no crashes, and it has been well taken care of. The foam is already cracking/deteriorating, which is a typical sign that you need to replace your helmet. For [$], I expect much better quality. Thankfully, I purchased from REI and can take it back without a hassle!

          I have been wearing Bell helmets for 35 years. And, have been very, very happy with them. Having moved to Florida recently, I wanted more cooling than my lower end Bell provided. Plus, it was pretty old. So, I got the Giro Aeon due to the vents and light weight in Summer 2011. I didn't know then that it had just been introduced in Spring 2011. It has been excellent in comfort (lightweight), fit, and cooling. So, I have been satisfied with paying top dollar (for once!). I would like to add that I had a very bad wreck with an auto a few weeks ago and the helmet probably saved my life. The short of it is that a car pushed me off the road onto a six inch gravelly berm. As I got back on the road about two feet behind the car, he slammed on his brakes. (Yes, he knew I was there.) I went through his back window at around 12-15 mph, the top of my head (helmet) hitting the roof line. Taken to the hospital by squad, a CT scan showed no damage and I went home that day. I had headaches for a week, but the helmet definitely did its job ... big time. I will be ordering a new, replacement Aeon soon. Hey, Everyone, please ride safely and be extra careful!! I never thought such a thing would happen to me. And, it happened so fast ... in a split second.

            I've had a Giro Ionos, a Giro Prolight, A Catlike Kompact Pro and a Catlike Whisper Plus. All had their ups and downs. The Giro Aeon is the best helmet I've ever put on my head. It's nice looking, without being overly flashy, and works like it says it does. It's WAY better looking that the Prolight and WAY lighter than the Ionos.

            I could not ask for more.
