The North Face Apex Android hooded jacket is a soft shell you can count on. It blocks the wind and keeps you warm on gusty days.

Android is a stretch alternative to hard-shell outerwear and can be combined with fleece liners of various lofts to create highly thermal outerwear
Use Android for mid-levels of aerobic activity (hiking, skiing, snowboarding) or in colder weather
Offering solid performance, Apex ClimateBlock stretch laminated fleece is windproof, ultra water resistant and breathable; fleece backer enhances moisture wicking and warmth
Durable Water Repellent finish fends off light rain showers and snow
Attached, fully adjustable brimmed hood adds protection when the weather gets brutal; high collar protects neck when fully zipped up
Windflap backs front zipper
Non-abrasive, adjustable cuff tabs and hem drawcord help hold in warmth
2 zippered hand pockets and a zip bicep pocket

This is a really good jacket that can be worn by itself or with fleece under it. It is slightly oversized...I think with the idea of layering it in mind.

The jacket offers good water and wind resistance. I have had an Apex Bionic jacket for several years in the basic black and wanted to get a hooded version in a different color. It is really nice having both versions.

This is is a good jacket for hiking in wet or windy weather. I am hesitant to call it breathable compared to some shells; it is a trade off between breathable and water/wind resistant.

I'm very happy with it and think it would be a great starter jacket.

it's a nice product, but I wanted something windproof with some level of insulation. I had a patagonia lightweight r4 and was hoping this would replace, but while windproof, it didn't have any insulation like my R4, so ... buying another lightweight R4 instead...

Bought it for my brother and he totally loved it. He is super picky and I was a bit worried about the size and color (got him the gray), but it was almost like love at first sight!

Product runs a little small, compared to the apex bionic shell. I've had the non hooded soft shell from northface (at REI of course) and thought the size would be identical. This one feels a little bit more snug.

This is a great shell. The gray / blue jacket I have is also very stylish. I wear it both casually when it rains or I need a light layer and when cycling to protect against the elements.

This jacket is an awesome wind-stopper. It is also pretty warm without being heavy, which is always a plus. The only thing I would suggest to improve is to have the hood be optional by being able to zip it on or off. It doesn't lay down on my back so it sticks out pretty far.

I`ve warn North Face Apex Android Hooded Jacket almost everyday since I purchased it last month and it has been GREAT!

Light and breathable out in the sun or on windy days out on the beach. Keeps me warm and dry during hikes through the regional parks (so far through heavy rain & light snow, recommend zipping up those pockets if it is).

Comfortable to wear while jogging. Pocket in the left arm is perfect for holding my GPS/Phone/license. The hoodie is sturdy enough to keep the rain off your face and pull cords to snug it up and prevent it from catching all the wind and making your ears cold.

I would say it is an awesome jacket, would maybe get a size up to wear a lighter layer underneath for when it a little bit more then light snow.

I stopped at the REI store in Bellingham, WA on my way back to Victoria, BC.

The store reps were helpful and curtious in my selections and the cashier was awesome and friendly when we spoke of the product and REI membership.

I will definitly be coming back on a yearly basis to keep my membership going!

Pretty good jacket. A bit too expensive but you do get what you pay for. I have worn it while commuting into work in bike during a DOWNPOUR and I was dry. Do note one thing: Do not leave any pockets unzipped, they water will leak in. Rode it on motorcycle as well in 50's weather and it was comfortable. Really like it. The only downside is that it does not work for any long bike rides because you will overheat in a second. Then again, that is not what it is designed for but there you go.
