If you want to give your toddler a rider's-eye view of the road, the Yepp Mini Front Bicycle child carrier lets you do it in style.

    • Child carrier is made from EVA polymer, a pliable, rubberlike material over a tubular steel frame that runs along the inside the edge of the seat
    • The combination of the soft EVA over steel gives your child a comfortable ride without sacrificing support
    • Child carrier attaches to the stem of your bike using a clamp that fits quill-style stems between 0.8 - 1.1 in. in diameter
    • EVA material is waterproof, does not absorb heat and is very easy to clean
    • Nylon straps secure your child in the seat, and a softer grade of EVA used for shoulder pads prevents chafing
    • Seat features footrests that are easily adjusted to different heights without the use of tools
    • The Yepp Mini Front Bicycle child carrier is designed to hold kids from 9 months (who are able to sit up by themselves), up to those weighing 33 lbs., or about 3 years old

Comments about Yepp Mini Front Bicycle Child Carrier:

We needed a seat for riding around town, either to the beach or to pick up something at the market. It's really light weight, and comfy for our baby (10 months old). When we store our bike in the (very small) bike room it's really easy to take off the seat. Unfortunately, this seat needs an adapter for any bike that doesn't have the same handle bar in the picture. I believe it's an extra $25. When we asked the REI employee whether this seat fits in any bike, he said yes, but never bothered to say it needs an adapter. So if you get this seat, get the adapter.

I love this seat, and my 1 year old does too! She fits in it perfectly and there is plenty of adjustment to allow her to use it for years. It feels very secure when riding, and I really like having her in front of me instead of out of sight behind me.

Comments about Yepp Mini Front Bicycle Child Carrier:

We're avid cyclists with a garage full of bikes. We have a Chariot trailer (from R.E.I.) for longer rides, but sometimes we'd like to be able to take our baby along for quick, 1-2 mile errands around town. We thought she would enjoy being able to see forward.

Our "town" bikes have modern, threadless headsets with stems that feature spacers (approx. 1.5" O.D.). This has been the norm on any decent ($400+) bike for what, the past 15 or 20 years or so?

Unfortunately, the stem clamp for this product is only compatible with old-fashioned, quill style stem--the sort of component you usually now only see on cheap, non-enthusiast bikes.

We're amazed--and very disappointed--that this product won't work with modern, better-than-department-store bikes. Yepp could fix this by offering two different sizes of clamps, but that isn't even an option.

So, if you have some "cruiser" from [any large box store] and/or the bike you intend to mount this on is at least 20 years old, the Yepp Mini will probably work well for you. If you're a cycling enthusiast, you'll probably have to look for another alternative.

Very solid design and my 13 month loves to ride in it. I love having her close to me while I ride. My knees do hit the seat just a bit, but only slightly. I looks like it's more of a problem with other designs. The fit is real nice and putting your child in and out is very easy. Installation was simple, and I love the removable, lockable design.

Comments about Yepp Mini Front Bicycle Child Carrier:

I love this bike seat, but more importantly so does my 2 year old son! He got this for his first birthday from my parents (although I had chosen this exact one for them to buy). At first I thought it wouldn't hold my 31" 30 lb toddler, but it works perfectly and still has room for him to grow. It's comfortable for him as it holds his feet in place (no dangling) and it has a bar for him to hold on to (and to hang a water bottle and a snack container from). I love that it attaches to the front handle bar because I can watch him and ensure his helmet is on properly. The only complaint I have is that I occassionaly hit my knee on the bottom of the seat if I'm not careful. This took a while for me to grow accustomed to. It could be because my bike's handle bar doesn't allow the seat to sit any higher up. The seat comes off of the contraption that attaches it to the handle bar. So, I can ride the bike without the seat and then click Yepp seat on in about two seconds. Overall, I love this product. I think it'll last for at least another year, at which point I think he will be too tall.

I use this for my 9 month old boy. It is soooo stable, I couldn't believe it. Way smoother than the bike trailer that my 2 yr daughter old has to sit in. My son is so snug and secure in it and the hinderance to me is nearly unnoticeable. I use it everyday-about 6 miles a day on paved trails w/ my Trek hybrid. Many reviews said it wouldn't fit, but it works great. I took my bike into REI before I bought it just to make sure. A small price to pay to be able to take my 9 month old with me on bike rides. And when he does turn 1 year, I'm sure I'll continue to use the Yepp b/c it is so smooth and gives him a better view. Great product.

Comments about Yepp Mini Front Bicycle Child Carrier:

Bought this because friends of ours have one and love it. I'd been waiting until my daughter was the right weight, because she is small for her age. She loves it, she's about 1.5 years. I was concerned about the safety of the front seat, but felt a trailor was too burdensome. I bought it thinking "If it feels too unsafe, I'm going to take it back."

The setup was simple on my Trek 4500, I removed the spacers on the Yepp adapter, and the tube spacers on the Trek. Fits perfectly.

After the first ride we were both hooked, although getting used to the helmet was a little issue for her. We can go considerable distances around chicago, and its a ton of fun. I feel very safe, BUT I am hesitant to take it out on busy days because the biggest risk is other people hitting you, and if we were to fall, it would be a pretty long way down. Needless to say, I use every precaution when riding around town.

Comments about Yepp Mini Front Bicycle Child Carrier:

My 4 year old just outgrew our trailer so we were looking for something else for our 2 children. We ended up getting this for our 16 month old daughter and a trail a bike for our 4 year old son. Both of these hooked to our tandem bicycle. We are quite the sight going down the road!
I did a lot of research before purchasing this. I was worried about how safe my daughter would be on here in the unlikely event we crashed. I found a study by the AAP that boiled down to them being just as safe statistically as bike trailers and no deaths on them in 9 years. And most accidents happened when people were getting on and off of the bike, not an issue with a tandem. My husband would get on then I would get my daughter strapped in and my son settled on his trail a bike before hopping on myself. I was sold.
It is easy to get on and off of the bike but has a key lock so we could leave it without fear of theft. My 16 month old sat in the seat yelling "WEEE!!!" the first 10 minutes of riding. If we stopped and let her off she was over there trying to climb back into her seat. We were worried about her falling asleep but we just tied her favorite blanket to the bar and she was able to sleep comfortably, helmet and all.
We went with this one over a cheaper model because of the cushion, the high back on the seat, and the fact it mounts to the handlebars. There's no way she can grab the handlebars and turn them suddenly like on others that mount to the center bar.
We are very happy with our choice and we feel safe with her in it. In fact, we feel safer than with her in the trailer. No more close calls because of the width!

I've read some reviews that this carrier doesn't fit mountain bikes. I gave it a shot. Initially, when I tried to install it, I thought the steering tube is too tick. I removed the headset, the spacers and I installed the carrier bracket directly to the tube making the bracket work as the spacers. It worked perfectly on my Trek 4300. That did the trick for me. I'm happy with my purchase.

Comments about Yepp Mini Front Bicycle Child Carrier:

I recently bought this seat for my 22 month old, 25lb son. It's very well engineered & attractive (compared to other bike seat designs). I initially couldn't decide between the Yepp Maxi or Mini. I decided on the Yepp Mini to keep my rear rack clear for cargo/groceries since I commute to work and run many small errands on my bike. While the Maxi has a higher weight limit, my son is only 25 lbs, so it will be a while before he reaches the 33lb limit. The seat was very easy to install. I was able to have it out of the box and on the bike in under 10 minutes. However, I will say that the footrests were initially VERY stiff and hard to adjust, and I had to use so much force to move them that I was afraid I would break the plastic part that slides on the metal rail. It moves much more freely now, but the same thing happened on both sides. [...] Prior to using this seat, I had never ridden with a child seat and I was very nervous about how it would effect my bike's handling. I am happy to report that while I can certainly feel a difference in steering (a bit more sluggish), it only took a few minutes of riding in a parking lot to adjust to the change. Since my son is in front of me, rather than behind like most carriers, I have a pretty good idea if he's about to make a sudden, drastic movement (i.e. leaning far to the side to see a bird, dog, something shiny, etc) so I have time to compensate as needed, rather than being caught off guard if he were behind me. The mounting mechanism is my favorite part of the seat. It's quick and easy. It literally takes 2 seconds. Push a button and slide a latch and off it comes. It has a key to lock it into place, for both safety and as an anti-theft measure (but I don't see theft of the seat as a major worry here in the US).I love it and definitely recommend it. I will upgrade to the Yepp Maxi when he reaches the weight limit of the Mini, as I'm thoroughly impressed with the quality and sturdiness of the seat.
