The light and versatile Black Diamond Distance Z-Pole trekking poles sport a super simple and reliable folding design that is ideal for day hikers, trail runners and backpackers.

Innovative folding Z-Pole system offers simple, compact and reliable support with a concealed inner cord, single push-button release and speed cone deployment
Inspired by snow probes, speed cones at the end of each pole section ensure strength, stability and super fast deployment; each speed cone guides a pole section into place
A quick pull on the grip and the first pole section snaps and locks the 3 pole sections into place; flexible tube ends protect the Kevlar® center cord when folded
Easily replace and solidly secure pole tips with WaveLock™ tip connections
Right- and left-hand-specific straps are light, breathable and moisture-wicking; they feature breathable cut-out windows and easy rip-and-stick adjustability
Light, non-slip EVA foam grips feature foam extensions that allow poles to be held low during short side hill traverses
Strong aluminum shafts stand up to everyday use on the trail
Pole baskets feature shaft catchers to secure pole sections when folded; note: baskets are fixed in place and cannot be switched out for snow or powder baskets
Black Diamond Distance Z-Pole trekking poles come with interchangeable, nonmarking rubber tips, carbide tips and a stow bag

Was a little nervous when i bought these trekking poles, thinking they might not hold up. I love these trekking poles. Very light weight and suprisingly sturdy. They pack away very easily and work great. My only complaint is that they are not snow basket compatable.

Got these for my wife. Ultra light and pack really small, about half the space of mine but seem really dainty. Grips, shaft, tips and baskets all seem very thin and flimsy. We also don't like the interchangeable tips, they can be a little hard to remove and who needs more parts to lose. They're good poles for her but for a larger person or heavier trekking I would recommend something a little more substantial.

Bought these poles to hike the Inca Trail and was not disappointed. The poles packed well, were light weight and very durable. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Used them a lot since i got them and must say they have not failed me yet. I did get them on sale and that is why i got them taking a chance, but i was glad i did get them. Very Compact when they are disassembled.

Fit in my backpack and small 21 in. suitcase for flying. Gave good stability when climbing and over rough terrain while hiking at Machu Picchu and in the jungle. Perfect for this trip and know I will use them again and again. Appreciated the light weight and comfortable grip and stability. Not being an experienced hiker appreciated the confidence they gave me.

I bought these trekking poles to use on the second half of my thru hike of the Appalachian Trail because they were much lighter than my previous pair and could be stowed easily.
In design these poles are great: in execution these poles fail miserably. After only 50 miles the thin line, attaching the wrist strap to the handle, broke. I repaired that with stronger line. Only 30 miles later the wrist strap itself tore in half, rendering it useless. Two miles after that, the wrist strap on the other pole tore in half. These poles lasted less than 100 miles and are effectively useless.

If the wrist straps were more robust I would be tempted to try these poles again, but I can't speak regarding their durability past 100 miles.

We used our poles for Yosemite day hikes each day of our recweek vacation They replaced our old standard hiking poles. We could not have been more pleased with the poles. They are lightweight and fold to a very small size that easily fits in my backpack and luggage. I was a bit reluctant to spend the money to replace our poles but am so pleased we made this investment. The website was very helpful by providing enough information for us to select the appropriate poles to fit our needs. The poles enabled me to hike longer distances with my runner's knee with no discomfort. Overall these are awesome and we recommend them.

Service and delivery comments:

We did not pay extra for shipping and the poles arrived on the day projected which was perfect since we left for our vacation the next day. Great service!

Used these on two short trips and so far I'm happy. Used another shock corded walking stick for years but it tended to come apart in mud or snow. Black Diamond solved this with there locking design. I like to stash my stick on uphill climbs so I like the fact that it easily compacts. It seems strong enough to support my weight on steep downhills but there is enough flex that I worry it will vibrate during fast moving stream crossings - not tested yet. I'd like to see them add a removable snow basket and make a walking stick version with wider diameter tubing. I would take these on a backpacking trip with some snow exposure but with the current small baskets I would not recommend them for snowshoeing. Overall an excellent design.
