Rated5out of5byOperaNrocksfromI finally found my shoe!I went through a number of cross-training shoes for the gym and running. This is finally the one. I look no further. It's a great, light all purpose shoe. The Vibram soles are one of its best features.

Rated5out of5byCLTHikerfromComfortable and Great SupportThis is my first North Face shoe purchased. Very pleased. The gortex lining is what I was looking for to give me option in all conditions. Styling is great too.

Rated5out of5byLeft Toefromused on my AT thru-hikeI went through a couple of these on my Appalachian Trail thru hike and was very pleased with them. REI was even able to replace my first pair for my second because of my only concern with them that the outside mesh where the pinky toe meets tore on each of them due to the everyday wear and tear of the trail. While waiting for the second pair to get to me, I switched to some Merrel boots and was to say the least very happy to go back to trail runners. Add in some simple gaiters and these shoes will last you through all conditions. Definitely get them at this price or go for their updated version covering up the mesh problem.

Rated5out of5byMKellerfromSolid Hiking ShoesI read other reviews before purchasing these that said the shoes required no break-in period. I disagree, but they broke in very quickly for me. They weren't bad out of the box, but they became noticeably more comfortable after putting about 5-10 miles on them. Good (but not overdone) arch support. The arch support may not be enough for some. They felt a little heavy to me at first, but I think that's because I was used to minimalist running shoes. After I adjusted to them, the weight is not bad at all. They are stiff enough to give some support and protection. I stomped through a couple puddles during a recent rainstorm, and the waterproof layer seems to work as far as I can tell. Obviously they are shoes though so water can come up over the top of the shoe if you step in deeper water. They are a little warm but breathe well. They feel well-built and seem like they will last a while. Only time will tell, but after spending a long weekend camping and hiking in them, I would definitely recommend trying them out.

Rated4out of5bydmacfromThe North Face Hedgehog III GTX XCRAfter wearing out a pair of Merrell's thought I'd give these a try. Had em for a couple of weeks so haven't really put em to the test but Death Valley for 10 days is coming up soon so they'll get a very good work out. So far more comfortable than the Merrel's,seem to be lighter and being they're from TNF I think they will more than live up to my expectations.

Rated5out of5byNebraska NickfromBest shoe i have owned, 2nd pair.An amazing shoe. This is my second pair of the same model after my dog chewed up my last pair. It is the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. I will continue to purchase these shoes until they stop making them.
