Comments about Merrell Trail Glove Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I'm now in my 2nd pair of these. I worn the 1st ones right off my feet which took a long time and a lot of miles.
I run in them both trail and road and they are a regular in my running shoe line up.
They are great sock less. I use them with a set of elastic laces for a slip on fit.
I understand these have been discontinued in favor of a next generation which I will try out out when I finally kill this pair

Comments about Merrell Trail Glove Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
This is my second pair of these babies. True work-horse merrell's. My first pair took down 2.5 years of trail running, backpacking and climbing 14er's before the soles finally wore out(and this was probably caused by any road running I did).
Break in quickly, stylish, very comfortable and they build your legs' muscles in a proper manner. All shoes should be shaped like this, its natural!
Only wish: The had a hard plate for tougher, rockier terrain.(Running downhill on rocky trails, Moab slabs)- Wearing socks will save some impact shock on roads, tough trails.

Comments about Merrell Trail Glove Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I'm a serious backpacker, and originally purchased these to use for stream crossings and around camp, but have found them to be so comfortable that they have become my day hiking staple.
You have to play with the lacing a bit to get them on, and I think that is why some have complained about them being "too tight". They have a wide toe box and once laced up, they are extremely comfortable. I typically wear an 11.5, and found that a 11.5 with these is perfect for me. The vibram soles are great for durability, and because they weigh virtually nothing and dry relatively quickly, they are an essential part of my backpacking gear.
I have a slightly wide foot and have had an assortment of foot related issues over the years, but these are the most comfortable thing I have ever worn while out in the mountains. I typically wear socks and use green sole inserts (for a little additional padding), and have never had any type of foot discomfort hiking on/off trail, regardless of the terrain. These are great for crossing streams when the water is too deep for your boots. As soon as I get camp established, I park my boots and wear these the rest of the day.
Paid full price for my original pair, but when they went on closeout, I decided that I needed to pick up a couple more (assuming my originals will eventually wear out). I also bought them for my adult kids to use when they accompany me on backpack trips.
If you are a serious backpacker where weight and utility are critical elements in choosing your gear, I highly recommend you consider these (while they are still available). You won't regret it.

Comments about Merrell Trail Glove Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I have several pairs of minimalist shoes, and this quickly became a favorite. The soles are flexible yet rugged, the uppers breathe well, and the laces do a great job of cinching down and hanging on. I've worn them for field and office work and just around as a casual shoe and I have no complaints.

I bought these as a lightweight option to wear around the house. They feel great on my feet. I realize that with no support they wouldn't be great for all day asphalt-pounding, but around the house or a hike around the woods they're great.

Very comfortable, I wear these without socks. They seem to wrap around your foot and feel great. Lightest shoe I have ever had.

These shoes are great. I have a pair of the vibram five fingers, but I enjoy this style much better. Lightweight and extremely comfortable.

Comments about Merrell Trail Glove Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
I bought these shoes for my trip to Australia, and am pleased with the decision. I had been wearing the Vibram Five Fingers for a while, but wanted something a little more mainstream looking, but just as comfortable with a little more rugged protection.
These shoes delivered in the city, out in wine country, walking around historic prison camps, strolls on the beach, in the rainforest, and yes, even the Outback (and I don't mean the restaurant). I wore these everywhere and was delighted with everything except the very fine red sand which was able to creep into them. I didn't mind so much as the cooling effect of the mesh was better than the passage of fine red sand through.
Unfortunately, I bought these on clearance, so I fear I won't have another opportunity to buy them once these wear out. I can get the multi-colored ones, but I like these for the understated colors. Hopefully, there's simply an improved design in the works. Maybe it's one where air gets in, but fine sand doesn't.
A side note on these shoes. I have very wide feet, so I bought the exact size I measure. I was able to wear them with or without socks of varying thickness.

Right tool for the job; they provide plenty of feedback to let you know how you're doing, help you keep your form good, let you know when you're pulling. Your feet/body really benefit from the amount of information these shoes allow to flow from the ground up.

Comments about Merrell Trail Glove Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
Great for running on beach. Very lightweight. I was looking for something that was a minimalist shoe and I didn't like the finger shoes so I tried these out. They work wonderful on beaches that have pebbles and lots of sharp seashells. I don't like wearing running shoes when running on the beach since they can get weighted down by the sand. Also, these Merrell's let me get my feet wet in the ocean and I can continue to run since they drain very well. I've been running on beaches for years and this is by far the best shoe investment.
