The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Rated5out of5byBelinda PohlmannfromDay Pack Paradise!I use this pack for work and play. I commute via bike and my 11" Macbook Air fits nicely into the section designed for the water bladder. I put a water bottle into the side pocket and use the compression straps to ensure it doesn't wiggle free while I'm biking through the city. My keys are safely secured in the top pocket's key-loop. I also keep my phone and lip balm in this easy to access top pocket. I love the zip loops - I can access the pack quickly even when I am wearing gloves.
It can get a bit hot & sweaty in summer, but I'm prepared to put up with this as the pack is wonderfully light. I like the capacity as I feel that 20L is enough to fit all my essentials and none of the extras that at the end of the day I can really do without. I have been using this pack for more than 2 years and it's still going strong. Excellent quality.

Rated5out of5byrobbie rayfromTerrific pack!Features about this pack that I like:
-Size/compression/lightweight: Perfect for bike commuting and day hikes. Holds water bottles securely in the side pockets. Front pocket holds items securely.
-Loop zipper pulls will be great when wearing gloves in the winter.
-Flexible fit: I am 5'0 with a small frame. My spouse is 5'10" with a larger frame. We are both able to wear this pack comfortably on long hikes.
-Minimal design: No thick straps, hip pockets, etc. hanging all over the place.
The only trade-off negative feature is that back doesn't have the best air circulation. But the more lightweight, packable design seemed better for my needs than the bulkier packs that seemed to provide better air circulation along the back.

Rated5out of5byRachaelGfromBest daypack ever! This is without a doubt the BEST daypack I have ever used! It is great for day trips, travel, walking about, shopping, commuting, etc... I originally got it in red, but I am going to get the black one as well for a more low-key business travel appropriate look. It easily holds an 11" Macbook Air in a thick sleeve, iPad, an extra layer, 2 water bottles, epi-pen and inhaler, wallet, passport, and a snack with space to spare. However, if you're a big dude this pack will probably feel like you're carrying a kid backpack because it is so small and lightweight. It is super-adjustable and compresses. It packs well in a suitcase. I love this bag!!!

Rated5out of5bySlow Moving Fun SeekerfromWonderful Lightweight DaypackUnbelievably comfortable pack that is well-thought-out and simply a joy to wear. The straps make it possible to strap on snowshoes, a jacket, even skis. It has a simple design and is ultra light, but is unique in that it has burly shoulder straps. I have not seen another 20ish-litre pack with shoulder straps as substantial as those on the Speed Lite 20. This means you can fully load the pack and not worry about the straps cutting into your shoulders. It's a true classic. The uniquely-designed shove-it pocket is another bonus as it protects your gloves, beanie, etc. from falling out or getting wet. It even has a built-in/concealed ice-axe loop. At just over a pound in weight, it is perfect to take in a larger backpack (perhaps as a sleeping bag stuff sack) to use as a summit pack.

Rated4out of5bydavefauxfromQuickly became my favoriteI ordered the Speed Lite 20 for free soon after becoming a Deuter "Family Ambassador" and this backpack quickly became a favorite. It typically holds everything you would need for a day hike. I've also used it to carry drinks and such to the roof of a building in Times Square for the 4th of July fireworks. They designed a breathable air mesh and it works—no more of that sticky, sweaty back.

Rated5out of5byYossarian123fromGreat day hike packHighly functional, lightweight pack. Fairly well adjustable, though as others have noted the waist belt is useless. Fits a 2L Camelbak nicely. There are several attachment points for small accessories using small carabiners, etc.
My only critiques are that I'd prefer at least one more zippered or velcro-close pocket on the inside. Smaller items get lost in the big main compartment. And a zippered mesh pouch on the waist belt would have been nice.

Rated5out of5bysquidyfromFYI: I don't own this packI got this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He uses it to take his laptop and stuff to work, mostly. It's a very nice non-bulky shape and smallish-but-not-too-small size. He has become very fond of it and keeps finding new features. Apparently it's very well designed. In fact I'm kind of jealous now. :P I might have to get one.
