    REI Hobitat 4 Tentis rated4.44out of5by25.
Rated4out of5byfromPerformed as listed...high qualityState Park leisure camping with friends. Easy to setup (even in the dark), high ceiling was a plus, and fits 3 large men comfortably. Only downside is that fitting 4 adults in this tent with gear would be a challenge.

Rated5out of5byfromVery pleasedVery well built, really like all the extras available for it, also bought the garage that attaches to it for even more room for gear.

Rated4out of5byfromRoomy tent, easy set upWe are avid car campers, so comfort and ease of set up are important to us. The Hobitat is plenty roomy for our family -- 2 adults and a toddler. It's nice to be able to stand up inside the tent. We also got the "Garage" which is very useful for gear storage. On our first trip with this tent, there was a big rain and thunderstorm overnight. We were warm and dry throughout.

Rated3out of5byfromVERY AWKWARD SETTING UPI set up alone 3x & extremely difficult to do so. Footprint MUST be staked down or won't work. I know this is SOP, have used other tents where not a MUST. Also, rain fly does NOT clip into tent body tab, but must be placed under tent tab & fixed w/pole tip. Not good! Impossible to set up on driveway to clean w/o help. Will keep it, but would not try to set up in inclement weather w/o good help! Should be field tested before buying. Very nice once in use, but will turn you into a Donald Duck setting up. Breaking down not too tough.

Rated5out of5byfromI love this tent!I have loved this tent since I bought it last year but recently used it in the middle of a thunderstorm and was SO impressed with how it held up. With standing water surrounding my tent on three sides, I was thrilled that my interior was completely dry, and the gale force winds and hail were no match for the Hobitat. It is roomy enough to easily stand and dress, and the mesh ceiling and side vents make it really pleasant to sleep in. It is super easy to set up with two people (my 12 year old son and I can do it in under 5 minutes) and makes car camping so very easy. Would highly recommend it for any family looking for a sturdy, comfy, easy to use tent for car camping.

Rated4out of5byfromCool car camping tentBought this tent when my GF said she wanted to camp in a tent that she could stand up in. Reasonable request so I added the Hobitat 4 to my "herd" of tent options that I own. Now this is for car camping only, there's no backpacking situation that this would ever make sense for. That said; Pros: 1. Super roomy for two to three people and standing up in a tent is a nice thing. 2. Bathtub floor comes up high enough that in windy conditions, dust doesn't blow in from under the rain fly. 3. Really easy to set up with two people. 4. Mesh at the roof is fine enough to easily see stars through. 5. Big doors. Cons: 1. Rainfly is VERY incomplete without the (extra cost) vestibule or garage. Rain NEVER falls straight down and it WILL come in through the doors of the tent anytime the zippers are not fully closed and wrapped up in the velcro flap at the bottom of the entrance, which is impossible to do from the outside. So take the chance and zip the door closed at the top of the door. Less water comes in this way but the "beak drip" gets blown in through the zipper. We'll buy the vestibule for the next outing. 2.Not crazy about the poles and their pre-bent shape. This is what I mean by that; the sturdiness in the poles prevents them from flexing as easily as the carbon fiber types (duh). So extreme care needs to be taken to ensure that the pole is precisely in the "tent sleeve" where you want it before you flex the poles into their upright position. My concern/fear is that the pole will bend/crimp and render it useless (1 pole repair part/aluminum sleeve is included), it feels like it would be easy to do. These are minor things: 3.Footprint doesn't really fit. If you do a taut pitch on the tent, the footprint will be saggy along all sides and at all 4 corners leading to debris and water getting under the edges of your tent. Our solution was to stake out the footprint separately from the tent itself but had the footprint actually matched the footprint of the tent... this would be a non issue. 4. Zippers on the door. I would suggest, as we did, to customize the pulls on the zippers on the main entrance. I extended the main door pulls and wrapped them in an electric, neon, blinding color duct tape. That way the screen panel zipper didn't get pulled when you want the whole door to open. Five stars would require rain fly with vestibule and a footprint that fits. We'll keep this tent and use it for many years to come and I think it should last as it seems to be sewn together well.

Rated5out of5byfromGreat Car Camping/Family Tent! This is a great tent, best larger tent I have ever owned. The first time I set it up, my friends were making fun on my fancy expensive tent, until the first storm hit. :) We were camping in a canyon and had a severe thunderstorm with high winds come through and the tent stayed strong. Everyone else's tent's were badly leaning in the wind, and rain and wind were getting under their rain flys, but not my "fancy tent"! It is not hard to set up, a second person makes it way easier, but it is doable by yourself. I have the attached garage and it is great for family camping with enough room for my wife and I, the dog, and our son.

Rated5out of5byfromHobitat a Great Habitat!Used this on a family camping/lake recreation event. It's footprint is tidy, and the height is phenomenal. I'm fairly tall for a female and like to stand up to change: no problem in the Hobitat 4! Fit a twin airbed, gear, and room to move around. Don't know how it would be with more folks, but I loved the small footprint, height, and super smooth fly. Can't wait to use it again. Also purchased the footprint tarp; excellent product and tent protection, easy to use. No moisture seeped through.
