The Patagonia Better Sweater is a very soft, full-zip polyester jacket with a timeless sweater-knit face and the warmth and durability of 9.5 oz. polyester fleece.

I needed a new fleece and my sister got this for me for Christmas. She did an excellent job! This jacket looks great and is warm. It's not bulky like my old North Face Denali. The zipper does get stuck a little on occasion but has never come off track. It's not very windproof but doesn't claim to be either. Overall, great jacket!

This is a great, warm sweater jacket. The only con my husband did not like is the bottom is a bit wide for him and there is not an adjustable band, nor an elastic band on the bottom.

This has become my everyday jacket. I live in So CAL (Huntington Beach) so it's not like it gets terribly cold. I wear this fleece jacket generally in the mornings on the way to work or when taking the kids to the park. I don't expect this piece to be super warm or wind proof…causes it's not. Think of it more as lightweight casual jacket. If I want a performance fleece for backpacking or running in cold weather I'll use my other Patagonia fleece jacket (R3/ high loft fleece).
So if you're looking for a lightweight casual fleece jacket, this guy will work perfect. The fit could be better…because this jacket is kind of stretchy it works ok for me. I'm 5'10" tall and weigh ~174lbs…avg height. I'm not skinny nor am I really overweight…just a bit stocky. I wear a medium for most of my Patagonia gear. Ideally I'd have a bit more room in the chest/ shoulder area. Patagonia says this is more of a normal 'fit' jacket, vs my other R3/ HighLoft fleece which is more of a tailored fit.
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. I have the black and it looks nice enough to wear in a professional office environments. I'll wear it w/ slacks and dress shirt all the time…or also with shorts and flip flops.
Patagonia, like REI has awesome customer service and 100% satisfaction guarantee… you can't beat it.

I loved the look of the sweater. Loved the feel of the sweater. Perfect balance of weight and style. It seemed to be perfect for kicking around the house or for going to work.

BUT, it offers zero warmth, and offers zero protection from the breeze. I bought it as I am going to go hiking in Scotland in January where it is windy and the temperature is between 20-30, which is not very cold. I thought that this would be a perfect jacket for walking around town etc. I decided to try it out by walking to and from work in San Diego in late November early December (over two weeks). I know that it is not a windproof jacket, and I am someone who runs warm, but it offered zero warmth in 50F weather with a slight breeze. The wind flows through the jacket as though it isn't there - on the plus side it is very breathable. I took it off and put on a merino half-zip sweater and the difference was instantly noticeable - the merino half-zip was infinitely warmer. A final point, the zipper is bulky, that is, when you sit down, it bunches up. I really wanted to like this jacket, but it failed in its primary function of keeping the wearer warm. Needless to say I have returned the product.

This is a great, comfy sweater to have on hand if you need something dependably-warm.

I'm 6' tall and 145 lbs (slender build)- so the loose fit of this sweater almost forces you to buy a size smaller. In my case having longer arms, I decided to stick with the Medium as I like to layer under the Better Sweater as well. Be sure to either try one on first if possible as it does run a little big on men.

I use this sweater during the fall/spring weather over my long-sleeve dress shirts, (and a tighter running shirt) during my walks around the city.

This is a jacket that just feels right. It has become my new favourite jacket. It is like every other favourite jumper/jacket you have ever had. It has that great feel. Not as warm as you might think for the bulk as the wind will blow through it. Great for an Australian winter. M

The jacket, overall, is fantastic. It's very warm and cuts the wind surprisingly well. It also looks great with a pair of jeans and boots. My only complaint is that the hem seems to be sewn a little unevenly. The jacket zips up fine, but it appears that the bottom of the jacket sits lower on one side of the zipper than it does on the other. It wasn't major enough for me to return the item, but it was a little disappointing considering the price tag.

This fleece is warm, lightweight and looks great! With it being a jacket, I bought one size up from my t-shirt size and it fits perfectly. If you have bigger arms/biceps (20" +), it is tighter around the arms - but this should not be unusual for anyone with 20" + arms. The pockets are big and zipper, which is nice for a sweater fleece and it doesn't itch, which is a nice bonus. This is a great go-to jacket for those chilly/colder sourthern California days, and with it being a sweater fleece I would not want to be caught wearing this jacket in the rain.
