Rated3out of5bymamukunfromGood, but why a plastic lid?Bought this for my husband's lunches because we are anti-microwave oven for nutritional reasons. In the morning we pour boiling water into it for about 5 minutes and today his hot, thick, and chunky soup almost burned his mouth after 5.5 hrs. We've only used it twice, but he's pretty stoked that he's going to have hot lunch at work through the winter. Now we're talking about buying a couple more for family daytrips, etc.
Big bummer is the lid is plastic. He makes a concerted effort to keep the thermos upright, but the point in buying a stainless thermos is to avoid plastic.

Rated5out of5byBean01fromExcellentI will fill the food jar with hot tap water for about 10 minutes prior to draining and then placing hot soup from the microwave inside the food jar. I will do this at 7am and it is still extremely hot for lunch at 12 or 1pm and even warm at 6pm. It is best with food that is chunky. An entire can of Progresso Soup fits perfect. Great on day hikes when it's below freezing. I liked it so much I bought a second one.

Rated5out of5byFanningfromGood and simpleIt works great. I had soup in it and it was not quite liquid tight but great for food. Would recommend it. Make sure you preheat it as it states as this will increase the length your food will stay warm.

Rated1out of5byrun4funaustinfromDidn't work for meMaybe this product has changed since some of the reviews, but this definitely did not keep my oatmeal warm. I pre-heated the container, then put boiling hot water and hotmeal in it and 4 hours later the oatmeal was only slightly warm - just to the point of not actually being cold but no where near what I was expecting. Very disappointing.
