The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

by Undadog8fromroomy but lid is not well-madeI bought this item over a year ago and I forgot I had it. I was excited to discover it in the back of the cabinet while organizing the kitchen recently, and figured I would use it for bringing soup to work. I recently used it twice for soup and once for oatmeal this morning. When I went to unscrew the lid this morning, half of it broke, exposing the styrofoam insulation piece underneath, which became stuck in the jar part, in my oatmeal. I don't have a dishwasher, so the few times it was used, it was handwashed. I keep it in an indoor cabinet so it has never been exposed to extremes of temperature. I can't imagine that I would have ever screwed the lid on too tight, I am a small female and my hands are not particulary strong. So my conclusion is this product is a lemon. Disappointing, as it "looked" durable and the Stanley name is one that I trusted, I figured they would make a good quality product. On the plus side, it is roomy and has a nice wide top.

by PluvialfromGreat thermosI am very fond of thermoses and use them daily. Stanley makes an excellent product. The capacity of this thermos is smaller than I expected but still very good for one and a half to two servings. Retains heat very well (roughly 10 hours later, soup is still warm). I prefer this thermos to the Stanley without the grip ~ the green encasing helps significantly. Rather easy to clean - I can fit my hand inside to get to the bottom, but could be difficult for those with bigger hands. A long handled scrubby tool would fix that problem, though.
The only reason I did not give this five stars was because I think the lip and lid of the thermos ought to have an option to pour (with the lid partially screwed off). I find I have to take the lid off completely to pour without spilling - no big deal, but it would be a nice addition to the design.

by charleskelkvfromIt truly works for HOURS.I routinely make coffee at 6am and have a nice hot cup at 1 in the afternoon. I say its cumbersome because with the first cap/cup in hand and thermos in the other, there's still the second cap to get off. If you have a place to set it down, you're golden.
The interior is a highly polished metal, and doesn't seem to change the taste of the contents at all. The exterior is steel from what i can tell, and it takes a beating, but does add to the overall weight. However, after having kept soup warm for 6 hours on a winter summit in VT, this thing is worth its weight in gold to me.

by Pete3900fromNot as good as I was hoping forBased on description and ratings I was expecting to get at least 6-8 hours of food staying hot, in my case I used it to take some soup to work, left thermos in locker. 4 1/2 hours later at lunch when I opened it there was still steam coming out, poured into lid/bowl and while it was what some people may call hot, I was disappointed. It was warm enough to taste good, but you'd have to eat fairly quick to finish off before getting lukewarm. It will do the main job it was purchased for, but I was also hoping it would be good for hikes where I might not get to it for 6 hours. So I'd say suitable for lunch, but maybe not travel or adventure. I have a Stanley coffee thermos that is absolutely excellent for long time heat and thats why I bought this.

by sacovellfromBest invention ever!My work day generally involves being outside anywhere from 6-8 hours at a time (rain, shine or snow). Therefore it is super nice to have this to keep food warm or cold! The mouth is wide enough that i can put stir fry or stew into it and still use my spoon to eat right from the container. It stays warm for hours!
