    The Backcountry Access Tracker2 avalanche transceiver features quick processing and 3 receiving antennas wrapped up in an easy-to-use interface to make searching faster and simpler.

    • Fast internal processor essentially eliminates lag so you can quickly search for a victim without having to wait for your transceiver
    • 3 receiving antennas allow excellent precision and pinpoint search capabilities no matter what position the victim is buried in
    • Mechanical search/transmit switch clearly indicates the mode you are in and is easy to operate; pull the switch to enter search and push it back in to return to transmit
    • Numeric distance display shows approximate distance in meters to buried transmitter; pinpoint search loudspeaker provides reinforcement to visual data
    • When searching, LED lights indicate the direction of the victim's signal; simply rotate the transceiver and proceed as the lights indicate
    • Special Mode narrows the search angle field to assist in searches for multiple burials; indicator light illuminates when multiple burials are detected
    • Tracker2 has a thinner profile and harness than the Backcountry Access Tracker DTS (sold separately); rubberized housing provides a sure grip
    • Included holster harness system allows the unit to be easily removed for searching
    • Operates on 457 kHz frequency and is fully compatible with other 457 kHz units; functions as a transmitter and receiver
    • Uses 3 AAA alkaline batteries (included), which provide a minimum life of 250 hrs. in transmit mode; 50 hrs. in receive mode

        This is a very good product. I originally had a Peeps beacon, which I liked and used for a little over a decade. When I left batteries in over the summer, and they leaked, it needed replacing. My wife had a Tracker, and I decided to get this one because it's a little smaller and lighter.

        Relative to my wife's Tracker (also sold by REI, and costs less), there is only modest improvement. A financially-sensitive person would probably be better off going for their lower-end model; however, I do appreciate having the slimmer profile. This version is also better suited to use while wearing gloves, but in a real life-or-death scenario, whether you take off your gloves to use it isn't a top priority. This version also has a slightly longer range.

        I really like that it points you in the appropriate direction (my old Peeps only had one directional point, this has 5). This feature makes finding someone much easier and faster--if your friend is suffocating under avalanche debris, they'll be glad you got to them that little bit faster.

            The unit is easy to use. the carrying case is a joke. The tracker one has adjustment to fit a child to a large adult. Tracker 2 case is sadly lacking and will no do for adults.

              This is a Great easy to use Transceiver , made right here in the USA. I have used the Transceiver for many training sessions and it has always been reliable and easy to use. The Tracker has good range and makes finding your friends fast. Don't go in the Backcountry without training, a Partner, Transceiver, shovel and probe.

                      Works well even with gloves on. I haven't had to use it for rescue, but have tested it several times. The search toggle is the wide chevron at the bottom, just pull that out and searching will start.

                      Harness works, remember to have the beacon facing INWARD (screen towards your body).

                      Good range. I would like a 360 degree direction indicator, but most beacons do not have this and it's very easy to search even without it.

                      Remember to get an avalanche safety course.
