Comments about Thule Doubletrack 2-Bike Hitch Rack:
Used on a 2013 Lexus RX 350 and the rack fit great. When in use, the bikes don't get close to touching the car. There is a little sway to the bikes that you can see in your rear view mirror, but they are very stable. Took them out on the freeway for our first trip and some bumpy roads...all with no problems. This is a solid bike rack that works with all sized bikes. I am 6'5" and have a large Giant mountain bike...this rack works with it no problem. It also works with my wife's smaller angled neck frame. Don't bother with more expensive racks, this one will work great...believe me!

Comments about Thule Doubletrack 2-Bike Hitch Rack:
Very nice and stable hitch carrier. Some assembly is required out of the box and the rack it all of 40 pounds. It comes with three locks which secures the carrier to the car and the bikes to the carrier so everything stays put. Once mounted and snugged, the carrier is very stable. The folding arm can stick; however, you can back the through bolt off a turn or two and the action improves significantly. Overall, very nice and easy to use.

Comments about Thule Doubletrack 2-Bike Hitch Rack:
I am very happy with this bike rack. I was looking at this vs. the T2. The problem is that my wife's bike is a cruiser with fenders, so the T2 would not work. I was very happy to see that the clamp down hooks on the Doubletrack work with my wife's bike, so if you have a fendered cruiser, this should work for you. The hook ratchets down far enough to hold her bike's frame.
The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it can be a little tricky getting the front bike on the rack, because you have to maneuver it around and under the frame hook, but once secured, the bikes will not go anywhere. Plus it comes with installed locks.
The only downside is it is not upgradeable to 4 bikes like the T2.

Comments about Thule Doubletrack 2-Bike Hitch Rack:
I bought this rack after my wife and I researched independently and arrived at the same conclusion. We have two foot-forward cruisers, both men's bikes, but with very sloping top tubes. There is no easy way to mount an adapter to allow for hanging-style racks, and I never felt those looked very secure anyway.
As others have mentioned, there is a LOT of sway and rise when driving with bikes loaded. I used to feel this was unsafe, but I've ridden for hours at a time with no problems.
I think the locks on these work well enough, and I never add any additional locks. Granted, I only take the bikes to beach towns with plenty of easily-stolen rental bikes, so I'm not sure how safe this rack would be in the big city.
For those with problems loading the rack because of the center arm, I would suggest putting the arm up first and angling the bike in under it. The only difficulty is getting the bike closest to the car on, but even that is easier than strapping in the bike first and then remembering to raise the arm.
Overall, this was a great investment and has allowed us to take our bikes out much more than we would have otherwise.

Comments about Thule Doubletrack 2-Bike Hitch Rack:
When I back out the drive way this thing hits the pavement.....every time unless I go extremely slow (we live on a slope which I'm assuming most CO people do). The main con with this product is I can not get the top part that you use to stabilize the bike to fold up/down easily. It always takes me several tries and is very frustrating..... Besides that this bike rack is great. I like it better than the last car rack I had (Saris), the bikes are much more stabile and I feel comfortable taking them places.

Comments about Thule Doubletrack 2-Bike Hitch Rack:
Installed on my SUV - avid biker
It is stable
The mechanism to slide the bars up and down sticks too much. The springback mechanism constantly gets stuck, had to go back to the store several times before I could use it as it was intended. Oce it stick in its tracks, it is very difficult to unstick. I tried the silicone, 10w30, simple kitchen oil; it sticks every time.

Comments about Thule Doubletrack 2-Bike Hitch Rack:
Owned this rack for a year and will be returning it, having given it more than one chance. Very difficult to move the arm up/down that secures top tub - it would stick in groove and just not move - rest of the piece worked well and it was easy to assemble. Had 50/50 chance of needing to wrestle with the arm for 10-15 minutes before it moved far enough out of the way that I could get the bikes out. Also, as previous reviewer said, it's heavy and has a tendency to sway on the hitch. I never worried it would fall off, but not a secure feeling either. Too bad, because it fit both our (big) bikes and was a snap to load when the arm moved well.

Comments about Thule Doubletrack 2-Bike Hitch Rack:
Regretfully, I returned this rack after 1 use. For all the 50+ pounds it weighed, plus straps and hold downs, the whole rack bounced and swayed along with my bikes as I drove leisurely around town.
The rack was heavy and cumbersome, making it difficult to mount and dismount. Its size and weight made finding space to store it a challenge.
Even placing bikes on the rack was awkward, particularly after a long ride. While leaning your bike away you must rotate up the center pillar containing the hold-down arms. Perhaps with more practice, it would have been easier.
I take no pleasure in criticizing this product. I bought it in the hopes of using it happily for a long time.
I'm not sure that enough thought went in to the original design particularly the weight issue. Lighter materials would have helped. The heavier materials contributed nothing to the stability and may have increased the bounce and sway.
