The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Thule Sidearm Universal Upright Bike Mountis rated4.0out of5by13.
Rated3out of5byVlzfromInteresting rack but completely unsecureNot well suited for SUVs or anything other than cars. Requires very very high lift to get them on top. The biggest issue though is that the rack provides NO security even with a lockset. If the bike has a quick release front hub, it can just be released at the fork and taken away. Since the rack only locks itself to the front wheel, once the frame is disconnected you can then just roll the front wheel and take that too. Will be returning this and going back to an old school front fork locking tray. It's a headache to get the bikes on it the first place and then I have to worry about theft. It's not worth the risk.

Rated4out of5bybob29rfromGreat rack for 29rWhen the rack arrived it was setup for the passenger side of the car. Not sure why, I would think Thule would have determined that most customers purchase for themselves (driver side of car). How selfish of me !
The instructions to reverse the setup for the driver side is very poor. After several tries I finally got it dialed in.
Upside is that the stability is much better than my old wide mouth Thule rack. I will purchase another one for the passenger side which hopefully will take half the time to mount!

Rated5out of5byLongfingerfromStable roof rack for my 29er mtbOther commenters have noted the poor instructions that accompany this product, and I would agree that there were a few places where the installation instructions were a little ambiguous. However, the product itself is, I think, excellent. Once installed, the (default) passenger-side installation was very stable and secure. I was able to get my XL frame 29er up on the tray and secured with little trouble. In terms of security (and convenience) I think one set of locks to secure the carrier to the roof rack would be a good investment for me, so that - during a ride - I don't have to completely disassemble the rack and store it in my car. I also bought a chain lock for additional security. But if you've got a large 29er mtn bike like mine, I think you'll be very pleased with this product.

Rated4out of5byRocky Mt RiderfromThe best way to transport your bikesThis rack is phenomenal for mountain bikers who want to transport their bikes without having to remove the front wheel. The process of getting the bikes on/off the vehicle is straightforward and simple. Although Thule indicates that the bike can be used for road bikes as well, I have yet to try it. Since this rack is roof mounted, if you have a larger/taller vehicle, you'll need to carry a step ladder.

Rated3out of5byDavidLM1954fromDifficultI bought two of these to go on our 2013 Suburu Outback Limited. I found them relatively difficult to assemble (compared to other models). The sidearm is too wide (sticks out too far) to allow two of them plus a narrow cargo box to fit on top. Also, it is a challenge to hold the bike AND adjusting the sidearm mechanism onto the bike frame (it has to be held a certain way to unlock the rachet mechanism and slide it into place) without the bike falling over (on top of your head). I liked that it was designed to fit onto a variety of luggage racks, including the Suburu Outback's standard rack crossbars. The Thule Bigmouth is narrower and two bikes and the cargo box would all fit; however, it does not mount to the Suburu luggage rack (so those got returned too). Yakima's bike rack works perfectly AND is a breeze to mount.

Rated4out of5byTobyornotTobyfromWorks!This product is fantastic. I have had no issues with it after installation. The installation process itself was a tad trickier than advertised. I put it together by myself, I recommend having someone assist with the mounting, it will aide in protecting your car from scratches and the likes. My use is for my Mountain Bike and I am very satisfied with its performance, the Prius IV has a Solar Panel Roof and a Sunroof, these two items continue to work effectively and are not disturbed by the rack and components. Enjoy!

Rated3out of5byThe Biking EngineerfromGreat Bike Mount, Complicated InstallI got the Sidearm to mount on my Whispbar roof rack. It did not go well.
Initial installation took nearly an hour to get things dialed in, choose the correct bolt length (three options), and snug everything down. The wingnuts used to secure are simple to use, but fiddly to get started. The Sidearm falls to one side until it's tightened down, which slows the process. Bolts are prone to getting stuck out of position, requiring full removal and dis-assembly of the mount. Bolts are prone to scratching car roof and bars if not precisely lined up. This rack is truly universal, but if removal is part of your plans you can forget it.
Once mounted the rack is very easy to use and holds a 30+ pound mountain bike securely on the roof. I didn't notice any issues with instability at highway speeds. Keeping front wheel mounted is a nice perk, and makes getting started on your ride very easy.
I bought this mount for occasional use, it is not acceptable for this application. It takes far too long and is far too finicky to install and remove every time it is used. For that application the Yakima Raptor Aero (or Thule equivalent) is a better choice. This would be spectacular for a car which has bike racks mounted 24/7/365, but it falls short otherwise. It would be perfect on a race support wagon, or on an SUV used primarily to get from one trailhead to another, but for my daily commuter it does not work.
I will be returning this product, I hope that someone else can use it better than I.

Rated4out of5byBuggsyfromNice gear, bad directionsThe directions for this rack are terrible. Even after I got it together I had to take it apart again to move the back strap in front of the rear mount. Works great once you figure it out and get it installed.
