Rated2out of5byk1kenobifromWeak pair of pantsI felt my wallet slide down the back of my leg and out the pant leg today. The stitching in the both back pockets is completely blown out. I already had to have the rear seam sewn back up by a tailor after an exchange was refused by an REI employee. He said there was evidence that I "slid" on them. That's fine I'm a professional fisheries biologist. I used them for field work and I did slide on them.
Overall, I would say these pants are okay for walking around town but not really suitable for outdoor gear. If you think you might need to slide on them down a rock or something then you might want to buy a different pair of pants.

Rated5out of5bymcriderfromGreat Hiking PantsI liked these pants so much I bought three pairs. They are so comfortable and versatile. I only wish they came in specific waist sizes. I have a 34" waist and the medium is a little tight while the large is a bit loose. I'm right in the middle of the two sizes. Nevertheless, they are a great pair of pants. A week ago I used them to climb Mt. St. Helens, and they were super.

Rated2out of5byHenry BemisfromWeird fitI'm 6'5" and these were way too long. I'm hoping that a 34" inseam will fit because ill have way more choices. Also, they're really baggy at the bottom - like bell bottoms almost. Overall I was pretty underwhelmed and will be returning them.

Rated5out of5byTGNfromGreat PantsI have been using these pants for six months now.
1) I was sold on these for the tall size and convertibility. I wear a 34x36 and the Large 36" inseam is perfect! It is slightly long, which I like because it better protects my ankles from brush without the need for gaiters.
2) Lightweight yet durable. REI's Sahara Tech fabric stuff is bomb. Its super thin and keeps you cool on hot, muggy hikes yet it is very tough! I still have zero holes in any pair (I have 3, so far). My usual terrain is jungle bushwacking as well as chossy ridges.
3) Don't get these for warmth. They are not meant to trap heat so you will freeze. Also, don't try to dry them near a campfire, they melt... Be careful of the zippers in the wash. I did not unzip my very first pair and had one of the leg zips shred. That was a care issue though, not a product complaint.
All in all these are some great pants.

Rated3out of5byJerseydougfromnot badI'm tall and slim and the 36" inseam seemed more like 37-38" and it was not what i'd describe as 'slim-fit'. Belt was uniquely designed, but wish it held together in a more secure fashion. waist snap also could've been a little 'oomphy'. The fabric was VERY light-weight it seemed - I was glad i didn't have to wear them in heavy rain - might have been too revealing - if you know what I mean. On the plus side, it looked ok and held up well to a week of casual wear in South America.

Rated4out of5byExPo HilldwellerfromDefectiveThis is my third pair of these pants; I take them when we're on roadtrips, camping, hiking, etc.
This pair arrived, I tried them on quickly, washed them, packed them in the teardrop, and went off to Mt Pisgah to camp/hike.
On the 3rd day it got warm enough to need the convertibles and I put them on -- that's when my wife noticed that one of the seams wasn't stitched and my lower leg was hanging out.
Had to return them.
The annoying thing is that the retail locations NEVER have my size in stock on ANYTHING. So I just took the credit at the store.

Rated5out of5byPreparing for thatfromI will wear them to my funeralThe only problem I have with these pants is there are only 2 colors. Come on REI!! Come up with 5 more colors so I can have a pair for every day of the week! I would like to die in these pants. I'm 6'5 and the length is great. The waist size is perfect and the belt is great for every activity that doesn't require me to wear a sidearm. If that is the case the belt swaps out very easily for a more heavy duty belt. These are the greatest pants I have ever put on my body!! MORE COLORS PLEASE!!
