Comments about Swix FX Waxing Iron:
The iron does everything it is suppose to do. Quick warm-up time, good temperature regulation, etc. When using the drip method, it's better to tilt the iron towards the front corner - tilting to the rear corner sometimes drips on the iron feet instead of the ski/snowboard base. Have only tried with universal wax, have not yet tried with fluoro waxes.
Before using any wax, I always set the iron low and move in small increments until the wax begins to melt on the iron base to avoid reaching the smoke point of the wax, then I applied a decal with temperature setting for each wax I use on the iron.

Comments about Swix FX Waxing Iron:
I wax 1-2 boards / pairs of skis per week. Works decently for the money. On skis it holds it's temp nicely, but on snowboards it seems to cool down and not recover fast enough, possibly due to the larger surface area of the snowboard drawing the heat from the iron. This leads to having to slow down signficantly when ironing and go back over areas multiple times.

Comments about Swix FX Waxing Iron:
The Iron's temp setting dial is difficult to see well enough to be as precise as the wax calls for but I managed and felt it worked well albeit this is the first time I've ever used a waxing iron of any sort.
I'd also have liked some hints on preping the ski before ironing (how to best remove old wax etc.) & dripping the melted wax off the corner of the iron. None the less I felt the IRON PERFORMED VERY WELL FOR ITS INTENDED PURPOSE

Comments about Swix FX Waxing Iron:
This iron is great for waxing skis and snowboards. It has a flat hot plate which is great for flat skis. Newer boards and skis which have camber, rocker etc. take more effort as you have to contour all the surfaces. The adjustable temperature allows easy melting of different temperature waxes. All around a great product, packs down small and is easy to carry around on trips.

Comments about Swix FX Waxing Iron:
It is more difficult to use when waxing a snowboard. But, as soon as I waxed a ski, it worked perfectly. So, for the price, it's a good iron.
For snowboards, I'll have to shop around for a heavier duty one that provides more consistent heating to consistently melt the wax.
If you're just waxing skis & snow blades... this is perfect. Snowboards... keep shopping or have a lot more patience.

Ordered this online. When I received it I checked it with an infrared thermometer since I wouldn't be using it until next ski season. With the temperature set to maximum the thermometer only read 125 F. Will be returning.

Comments about Swix FX Waxing Iron:
The iron did a good job of melting and spreading different waxes. I used it to wax 4 sets of skis (a pair for everyone in my family) in one session. The iron maintained a steady temperature and was easy to use.
Service and delivery comments:
The iron arrived quickly in good condition.

Comments about Swix FX Waxing Iron:
I got this cause my board needed some waxing before a last minute trip, and I didn't have enough time to have it done at REI. So I purchased this and all the supplies, watched how to wax my board on YouTube and was done within an hour.this was easy to use and easy to clean. Great iron!

Comments about Swix FX Waxing Iron:
I used to Alpine race and have used many wax irons in many price ranges. This product confirms that you get what you pay for.
The only good things that I can say about it is that it's inexpensive and that the base has a fairly wide profile that is nice with wide skis.
The bad...
*Very thin aluminum base making it very difficult to regulate the temperature
*The base it very rough. So much so that wax tends to burn on the base and it creates "drag" while waxing. It should have been polished and it annoyed me enough to polish it myself.
*Temperature is labeled in Celsius...Not a deal breaker but for me, annoying
Bottom line for me is, for a very recreational skier, snowboarder that waxes a few times a season. It'll work, not well, but will work.
I doubt that for anyone who waxes regularly that this will last very long. It is now made durably. If I had paid full price I would have returned it and spent more on a higher end iron. On clearance, I'll get my use out of it.

A fairly simple iron. Works well. I wish there was a wider version for snowboards.
