Comments about Gregory Z55 Pack - '08 Closeout:
I've taken this pack to Yellowstone an Isle Royale National Parks for week long trips and a of couple weekend outings. At 5'10' and skinny, finding a pack that matched my build was tough. This pack the challenge and has a range that it would fit. The pack offers a variety of locations to stash gear. I wouldn't mind a couple small exterior pockets, but stuff sacks back finding gear easy enough. Once I had my gear situated right, it rode comfortably for a full day's hike. I have a couple other packs for different uses, but I keep defaulting back to the Gregory Z55.

Bought this for a 2 day backpacking trip; 4.5 miles in, 1200 vertical foot drop, rocky trails, at 6500 ft. It's very workable, loads easy enough, has padded straps/belt, several places to clamp on stuff. It balances very well going down and up and I really like this pack. Going back up steep climbs was manageable and I never felt tipsy.

Comments about Gregory Z55 Pack - '08 Closeout:
I had been looking for an internal frame pack in the 3000-4000cu.in range for quite some time. I considered the Flash and Ridgeline, but the lumbar padding on this Gregory is what made me choose this. There are nooks and crannies everywhere. I have not taken it hiking yet, but I have packed it and unpacked it as a trial run a few times. I really dig this pack. I crammed all my technical stuff into this pack, and I still had plenty of space for food and clothes. And the weight difference between this and my old external frame...don't get me started. Granted, I am yet to take it out for a real test drive, but I see myself becoming a true believer of internals.
