Rated3out of5byPurdueBoilermakerfromGood not greatIt is easy to mount, easy to use. Be careful to make sure one side is fully locked down prior to opening the other side. My wife and I were testing it out for the first time and hadn't pushed hard enough to lock in one side before opening the other and ended up having both sides unlocked when opening. This is disastrous and becomes very difficult to maneuver back into place. It's obvious it's locked once you know you have to hear and feel it snap into place (sorta feel dumb having made this mistake the first time). The reason for only 3 stars is the track which is used to lock down the cargo box broke. Also, we are unable to fully open the tail gate of our 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with factory installed bars. We moved the bars forward on the jeep as far as we could and the locking mechanisms as far back on the cargo box as we could to get the box as forward on the Jeep as possible and we still cannot fully open the tail gate. It's still a great product, just doesn't work well for our set up.

Rated5out of5byPheelinPowfromGynormousI debated between the 21 and the smaller versions for some time. I think the 21 is great for larger families. Example - recent ski trip, fit 4 pairs down hill skis, 4 pair skate skis, 4 pair nordic skis, all the poles and boots and helmets with plenty of room. Looking from the outside the amount of space is deceiving - there is a lot of room. The latch device to the crossbars is a no-brainer. Very easy to use and super secure. The box weighs about 45 lbs so it may take two people to throw it up on top but then one person can make all the adjustments. Gas Mileage- we saw a 2-3 mpg decrease with a Toyota 4 runner 6 cyl on a 300 mile venture. I was a little disappointed here but only b/c I am a fairly neurotic about MPG. Road/wind noise - almost non existent "Drive-ability" - no change in steering or perceived aerodynamics of the car. Lock mechanism -- no issues and seems secure. Top stability - very nice and able to close with one hand.

Rated5out of5byqckfrzefromGreat Storage Box for now and future carUsed this on a 2004 Highlander SUV. Great Roof Box. Internal Reinforcing Ribs on the top part of roof box separates this from the comparable size/price Thule roof box, and was the final decision for us purchasing this roof box. Our intention was to use it perhaps 5 times a year, and for the rest of the time we store this on the ceiling of our garage with a kayak ceiling pulley set capable of 100 lbs. Getting this on the car requires two people, but the fully adjustable sliding clamps make this an ease to attach to any car in under 5 minutes. The roof box construction is fantastic, having REI and Yakima back the warranty is invaluable, and the sturdy construction of the box means I won't hesitate to put everything I can into the roof box so that the cabin area of my car is left for what it's meant: people, friends, and pets.

Rated5out of5byMojofreekfromGreat cargo boxI love this thing. It is easy to mount on your vehicle, easy to load and easy to lock. It mounts easily to my factory rails that are about 3 inches wide. It is sturdy and seems to be quite durable. I just took it on a 900 mile trip. It was stable up to 95mph on my MDX. It would probly be stable at higher speeds, I just didn't go any faster. I really couldn't even tell it was up there. Part of the trip I went through a lot of rain but not a lot of cross wind. No leaks, no problems, I am glad I purchased the big one. This thing holds so much stuff and it is only 7 1/2 feet tall on my car. This thing looks good and it looks like it was made for my car. I love this thing and I wonder why I didn't own one sooner. If you travel and have kids I highly recommend it.
