The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Sea to Summit Folding Bucket - 20 Liters:
Used a branch to hang the bucket, and took the worry out of knocking the bucked over. Did eventually get bucket to stand alone, but took some doing. Handle was surprisingly sturdy, and easily able to handle the weight of the water. Definitely better to have water in camp site, than to keep having to run down to the river. Liked having bucket of water at hand with live fire.

Comments about Sea to Summit Folding Bucket - 20 Liters:
Bought it to ease with water filtration on the trail. Some folks have had problems with the stability, but once I fill it I hook the handle to the caribiner on my bear line. It does the job.

Comments about Sea to Summit Folding Bucket - 20 Liters:
This bucket is small, light and compact and comes in a handy little case, all aspects I needed for back country hiking and camping trips. However, this bucket will not stand on it's own unless you have a very flat and even surface, the slightest gradient will cause it to topple over, and perfectly flat surfaces are not common unless you're car camping, so it kind of defeats it's own purpose.
I'll give it another go but I found it pretty frustrating to carry 20 litres of water back from the river to put it down carefully on a pretty flat spot, only for it to spill everywhere 20 seconds later.

Comments about Sea to Summit Folding Bucket - 20 Liters:
I have used this item on several overnight backpacking trips and have found it useful every time. When filtering water, I previously would have to crawl down steep banks and do some clever stepping to stay dry - usually I would be in an extremely uncomfortable position. Now, I fill the bucket and bring my water over to a rock for a seat, wait for the sediment to settle, and pump away at my leisure. I then fill again and carry water to camp to use for washing up. Afterwards I empty the bag, fill up with my food, and with a rope and carabiner use it as a cache and haul it up a tree to keep goodies away from critters.
The smaller size would be the way to go it you're only using it for water.I recommend the larger size (20 liters) if you have multiple uses planned.

Comments about Sea to Summit Folding Bucket - 20 Liters:
True that this bucket is not rigid and is not self-standing on a non-level surface. I have not had a problem getting it to stand up. I have another smaller bucket, but for a trip to a water source, I really wanted a large bucket to provide enough water for showers and washing. It's not really that hard to find some level ground to put this bucket on so it doesn't spill. It is easy to pack, compresses very small and is very light. Ultimately, you should have a small bucket too for cooking water. I like the fact that you can get almost 5 gallons and carry it in one trip to your camp site.

Comments about Sea to Summit Folding Bucket - 20 Liters:
This is an excellent ultralight/minimalist water bucket. It is not as easy to use as the heavier models that are able to provide more support by adding the weight, but it gets the job done without too much effort. I mostly use this to gather water from a lake/stream to let sediment fall and then use water to filter or boil (put fire out in cases where I can have a fire).
This bag will pick up plenty of water to filter. If you want a full bag, then it does require some "finagling". It is very lightweight and compact. The case is able to be attached to an outside strap on your bag for easy access. This bag will stand on uneven ground if you work at it OR you can prop it up against a log/rock and it will be fine.
Bad things: have to be careful when setting it down and maneuver the handles to keep the sides from collapsing and water draining over the edges. Also not great for storing water for long periods due to no lid.
I would not recommend this to a camper who does not care about weight and wants ease of use, but it gets the job done and is excellent for those who want to minimize weight.

Comments about Sea to Summit Folding Bucket - 20 Liters:
This product has worked great for me. I hate using my filter down by the creek getting eatin alive by mesquitos.
Its not stable on its own but if you rig something up to hang it on, it works great. Specially for group camping because you use so much more water=less trips to the creek.
Also it is very small and light weight when packed. Or you can easily carry it on the outside of your pack.

Comments about Sea to Summit Folding Bucket - 20 Liters:
The product actually belongs to a friend. First of all, it's very difficult to fill. You would think submersing the whole thing under water, straightening the walls would do it, but for some reason it seems impossible to fill up, unless you had a faucet or waterfall. Once half full, then find some level ground to set it on, wait for the water to stop moving, and good luck having it not spill. This last trip to Yosemite was very frustrating using this bucket. I would rather take my water pump down to the creek where I will be attacked by mosquitoes than attempt to keep the bucket from spilling at the campsite. On the second night we tied the handle of the bucket to a tree to keep it from toppling over. Sea to Summit seems to make a lot of great stuff, but this is not one of their better products!

Needs perfectly flat ground for stability - something unknown in the backcountry.
