The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Sea to Summit Alpha Utensil Set:
Bought this set as an impulse purchase while browsing an REI store. I bring my lunch to work most days and have either been using disposable plastic utensils, or (when I remember), bringing stainless steel ones from home. But I tended to forget those, and also kept worrying about accidentally throwing them out.
So I bought this set to have something to keep at work, that I wouldn't worry too much about losing.
The carabiner is nice for keeping the 3 pieces together - however due to its shape / small size it's a bit of a challenge to get a utensil off of it for use.
The texture is indeed strange - perhaps an unavoidable side effect of the anodization process? Fairly unpleasant actually, but you can learn to ignore it.
The light weight is nice but wasn't the reason I bought it. Where that *is* helpful to me: I just ate a cup of yogurt. The spoon is standing in that cup, until I get a chance to wash it. With a steel spoon, a breeze would be enough to make that fall over because it's so top-heavy. With this set, it's a complete non-problem.
I already knew not to put them in the dishwasher - I have a number of other aluminum utensils at home that can't go in the washer. I've ruined the finish on several of those. So this one gets hand-washed only. Since it "lives" at work, that's just fine anyway. On a camping trip as well, you wouldn't usually have access to a dishwasher!
The knife doesn't look like it would hold up to a tough steak, but I won't be using it for that anyway.
The one odd quibble that I don't think anyone else has mentioned: they don't nest. I mean, the fork and spoon nest reasonably well but the knife does not fit flat against either the front or the back of the fork/spoon assembly. That might be fixed with slight bends in the fork/spoon angle, or handle, or something. It's kind of a jarring omission, because as a result, the set doesn't make a very compact "package" and takes up more room than it ought especially if you've got all 3 on the carabiner. Again, for an office user like me it's not a major issue, but for a camper it might be.

Comments about Sea to Summit Alpha Utensil Set:
I wanted to love these, but couldn't do it. First, the texture on these utensils is too gritty. Maybe I have sensitive teeth, but when the spoon or fork would drag against my teeth, it was like nails on a chalk board. The texture and holes in the handles make them more difficult to clean. The cheese from my Mountain House lasagna stuck to them like bathroom caulk. On the upside, these are very light and having the fork and knife is convenient when eating things like chicken breast as opposed to trying it with foon or spork.

Comments about Sea to Summit Alpha Utensil Set:
They look cool but that maybe the flaw. The holes to minimize weight and add looks makes them hard to clean as food get caught in them. Next the coating has started to deteriorate after about 5 outings on the more used of the three utensils. For the price IMO you can get something better for feeding yourself IMO from a quality standpoint, even lighter too for the gram counters.

Comments about Sea to Summit Alpha Utensil Set:
I've taken these on every excursion I go on and I even use 'em at home some time. I've ran them through the wash in my pocket a few times because they're so light. The wrench size is also a perfect fit for most camp stove propane-lines. I've never had any kind of issues with these, although the anodized finish is starting to scrape off the edges... (but I've had them since 2008)

Comments about Sea to Summit Alpha Utensil Set:
These are not that bad, but there is one thing that really bothers me about them, the texture they use for the finish feels very... odd on your teeth/in your mouth. They are kind of gritty and rough.
Another thing to note is that they are hard to clean when food gets inside the holes.
After I got a snowpeak titanium spork i have loved it and always grabbed it over this set for any hike
They are light and they are tough, but I plan on returning them

Comments about Sea to Summit Alpha Utensil Set:
My husband and I each got a set of these for camping, and they're really lightweight and nice. However, my husband threw them in the dishwasher when we got home from camping, and this ruined the coating on them. I don't know if there is any warning against this on the packaging, and I wouldn't have put them in the dishwasher myself, but just in case there isn't: Don't do it!

I bought this set because I hate sporks and I wanted something very lightweight. This set filled my every need except having a sharp knife that can actually cut something. I find myself using my pocket knife to cut stuff most of the time. This isn't a huge deal though because when im on trail I never use a knife, only when I'm at work and have access to meat.

I love these utensils! I carry them in my purse as well as my backpack. Now I don't have to use disposable utensils ever again. They're lightweight and durable. I would buy them again if I had to, but unless I lose them, they'll probably last a very long time.
