This tent is light and seems to be well made. I like the size and 1 door. It does not have footprint and when I call I'am told there is none, so I ordered half dome 2 foofprint and it works fine. I Set it up in the back yard to check it out and it rains, and it leak's ! So I go to store and was told I did buy this tent at REI. I tell him I got it on line and he looks confused. I told him It leaks at seams (I think it come in at guyline loops) and he gives me tent repair tape and tells me to tape all seams with it, Now I look confused! I buy seam sealer(no repair tape) and tent waterproof and $25.00 Buckaroos later I go home, and spray tent and seal seams. I have used the tent twice, but no rain? Still wondering if it will keep out water? if it does not I will take it back for refund. Staytuned

I had three objectives in mind when looking for a new tent- Long enough (I'm 6'4"), cheap, and under 5 pounds. Basically nailed it here.
-Took it on a trip through the north cascades right out of the box. It poured (of course) all night, and we were bone dry.
-Long enough that my head doesn't rub on the wall when I lay flat (I HATE that).
-It is light enough (5lbs with stakes and fly) to pack around considering its size and construction. I enjoy the peace of mind of a bomber, roomy tent, even though I pack super light in other areas.
-Very sturdy, went through some crazy windy nights in Joshua Tree, tent stayed put and didn't collapse on us.
-Easy to set up, like most standard two-pole tents it can be done by one person in a couple of minutes.
-Won't find a better tent for the money!

I just got back from using this tent on a five day trip. It handled rain, wind, and dust storms well. The only downside is that it is a pretty warm tent even with the fly off. Other than that it is a great product! Make sure to get a footprint, it doesn't come with one.

i have used this tent in a few different situations, and it has worked well in all. I give it four stars because of how well it worked at the price offered. Wind River Range, WY was extremely windy and it did snow a little on us, but the tent held strong. Mirror Lake, Wallowa Mountains, Joseph Oregon: 30+ hour rainstorm with 20+ hours straight in the tent, kept us dry! did have to use emergency blankets in the vestibule to keep gear dry, and a tarp (no footprint available) underneath really helped. all in all i would recommend this tent if you are backpacking on a budget.

I just picked this tent up and really like it. The Half Dome 2 HC Footprint http://www.rei.com/product/728309 works perfectly with this tent. It also allows you to use the footprint, poles and fly for a minimalist shelter. The full fly does hit the side of the tent if you do not use the guy lines. I am 6'2" and with a sleeping pad and bag, my feet and head usually hit the side of a smaller tent. That is NOT the case with this tent. It is perfect for a taller person and their gear.
It has minimal screening, making it a very warm tent in the summer, but I purchased this to be my fall and winter tent. I have not used it yet in the winter but look forward to doing so. I have not had it in the rain yet so I can neither confirm nor deny the leaking issue report by other people.
It is very easy for one person to set up and take down. The stuff bag has enough room for the all the hardware, tent, fly and footprint.
I camp on a monthly basis and will update with any new discoveries.

I needed to replace an old Kelty Zen that was no longer waterproof and I wanted a roomy tent to use for car camping. The Sierra Dome was inexpensive and a good choice for me. I recently took it on a climbing trip to Colorado and it saw a lot of rain. It did a good job. I would never backpack this tent. As opposed to others, I found it rather difficult to put up. With an REI footprint that fit this tent, and the [$] discount, the whole thing was less than $100. Not bad!

Have used this tent about a dozen times over the last few years. Its very light for its size. I am 6 foot 6 and I fit in this tent so its roomy for one but would not suggest for two large adults.This tent is solid and it will never fail you. I would not suggest camping in temps of 80 or higher. The only drawback of the tent that is addressed in the later model tents is the venting. If you are camping in cooler weather you really can't go wrong with this [$] tent which is every bit as good as the [$] ones you can get. This one will probably be lighter too which I find very funny.

haven't used it in the rain, so cannot speak to that. Otherwise, it is great! Quick easy set up, and light weight. Side entrance may be easier than front though. Will use for both car camping and hiking. Would definitely recommend.
