Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Women's:
I purchased these for my daughter to go on a ten day expedition in the mountains of New YOrk. They had minimal breakin time. Her feet kept dry despite the conditions and she commented on how comfortable they were to hike in. I now want a pair for myself as we are moving to Colorado where we will be doing quite a bit of exploring and hiking

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Women's:
The boots are a great size and weight, and I used them for a 274 section hike on the AT from Springer to Hot Springs. They were great in most regards except one, the toe box was a little too narrow which led to some wicked blisters on my little toes that lingered longer than they should have and were more severe than I expected. Overall, however the shoes were fine. Keen needs to develop a wider version of these shoes and they will be on their way to having a customer for life. In the mean time, I'll continue to hunt for the perfect lightweight hiking boot.
Service and delivery comments:
Great customer service, no issues there at all.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Women's:
I own several pairs of Keens. I really like the roominess in the forefoot. These hiking boots have a seam just above the ankle that is not flat and causes terrible pain. I wore them on several hikes thinking I just needed to break them in, but each time my ankles ended up in pain.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Women's:
I have very wide feet and was happy to find these boots which had good toe box space.
After a short hike, I felt my left boot was rubbing against my left ankle bone. At first, I barely noticed it, but after a couple of hours, it became very painful. My right foot stayed very comfortable and pain-free.
After 2 more days of trying to break in the left boot, I still felt the pain. Then, I took off the boots and compared the left and right boot very closely and realized that the left boot has got at least 1cm longer ankle support than right boot, and this excess fabric has created the pain. When I compared right and left shoes closely, I also notice how uneven they were.
This is my first Keen product purchase so I can't tell if it was just my pure luck that I received a defective product, or they generally have poor quality. I'm not interested to try another pair from them for an experiment. It's too bad because other part of the boots felt wonderful.
I also noticed these boots were very warm, could be too warm for summer hike.

This is my second pair. They are light weight and immediately comfortable. Could have better traction and durability but great for travel and trekking.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Women's:
I got these hiking boots specifically because of the broad toebox, because I am taking a month-long hike in Europe this summer. With the daily mileage that I'll be logging, I anticipate a certain amount of swelling of my feet. I've taken several 10-15 mile practice hikes since getting these and am very pleased. They also offer good protection from the beating my feet can take when hiking on rocks and gravel. I like how the top lace hooks lock on the laces, so I don't have to do any half knots at the ankle. The bad aspect to these is they are rough on my ankles. My hope is that as I break them in, that part of the boot will soften up some. Otherwise, I'm likely to need a lot of moleskin over the course of my big hike.

The elastic band that held the lace broke after 2 weeks, and there is no way to fix it.
For their cost, 2 weeks of use is really short !

These boots go from the office to out in the field. They make it very easy and simple to be prepared for any type of work. They have great traction in the dirt, snow and mud. They stay dry crossing streams and keep my feet warm. They are not overly hot either, so they work great when I am in the office or outside.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Women's:
I hike 15 - 20 miles a week in the hills & mountains around my area, and I love Keen's wider toe box, as I suffer from Morton's neuroma in both feet. I returned the first pair because they squeaked terribly. Tho I could only hear it indoors or when not on the noisy, crunchy trail, it was annoying. The new pair is perfect! I have 4 different Keen styles, & I love them all! Keen tends to run small, so I always get at least a half size larger; whole size larger in the hikers due to socks & the neuroma condition.
Service and delivery comments:
REI "rocks" at customer service! The staff is very helpful & knowledgable regarding the products & services available. I've worked retail for over 18 years and know that customer service is just as important as pricing. As I've gotten older, it's become almost MORE important & will bring people back to your store.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots - Women's:
I have had two pairs of the Targhee IIs over the years and overall a terrific lightweight boot that has comfort and durability in varied terrain environments. The only drawback is that in my experience the rubber soles break and tear after only 5-6 months of heavy use. I used these boots primarily for trailbuilding and long distance backpacking, two uses that take a heavy toll on ANY boot. Overall, great purchase, just wish Keen could toughen up the soles a bit!
