Very happy with this product. Nice soft shell hiking jacket. For colder weather recommend layers underneath (thin sweater). Good wind break and water resitantancy. Looks nice too.

Comments about Arc'teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:

I bought this for traveling in 35-40 degree weather. This was the salespersons recommendation. This jacket is good for temperatures in the 50s. It does not matter that it is windproof when the collar closes poorly and does not seal. I had to wear 4 layers underneath and a scarf to seal the neck. I regret this purchase. It does pack well and never wrinkles.

Comments about Arc'teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:

Nice jacket. Seems a little tight under the arms if you have a few layers on. Great with a thin thermal underneath. Excellent windproof and rain beads off. Wish it had either an exterior or interior chest pocket for phone, wallet, etc. Looked at Marmot but really wanted a lighter weight jacket for cool, windy weather. Will not be using this during winter weather in Michigan, it is not insulated. A very good jacket that is light weight, windproof, rain repellant, and looks great.

Comments about Arc'teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:

This is a great jacket. As with most Arc'teryx jackets, the fit is 'athletic' and trim. I am a pretty big guy (6' - 240 lbs.) and I have used Arc'teryx as a way to get myself in shape ... I've lost 60+ lbs. over the past 4 months and the XXL now fits well. The sleeves on this jacket are a little long, but that is a minor minus for me. This thing absolutely blocks out the wind, breathes nicely, and appears to be high quality - like most Arc'teryx jackets.

Comments about Arc'teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:

[...] I purchaseded the Venta AR with high expectations. It looks great and fits me well. However, I didn't find it to be very rugged. And, the jacket lets through more wind than I expected. I often felt cold wearing it. My Colombia Titanium fleece does just as well at a third of the price. I would have to conclude that the Venta is a nice jacket for casual, mild outdoor activities. It's definitely not of technical quality and considering it high price, of poor value.

Comments about Arc'teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:

I bought this jacket to replace my boxy TNF Apex, which it does nicely. The Venta is much trimmer than other brands, but remains totally windproof... I got an XL and have plenty of room to layer a sweater or fleece. Its definitely not insulated much, but Arc'teryx customer service says its technically their warmest soft shell due to the windstopper. I also have a Hercules, which clearly is more insulated but not technically windproof. I plan on using this jacket on mild days as my only layer, which it should work well for. Its stylish enough to wear around town, which adds some value to it. I have long arms and the sleeves fit great, while the body is not as boxy a cut as my Apex. The jacket feels almost feather light, which is a common trait on Arc'teryx products. My only complaint is that it costs more than twice as much as other brands comparable products, but the quality is top notch.

Comments about Arc'teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:

I bought this jacket about a 1-1/2 year ago and it is still my favorite jacket. Fits very well to form and does not look too sporty, so you can wear it to formal events without looking like you just came back from camping. It is SUPER lightweight, breathable, and tough as heck. I'm talking about falling on concrete, rubbing against brick walls, accidentally rubbing against a metal table with saw like edges...no signs of wear, seriously.

I layer this jacket with a arcteryx covert cardigan (which I LOOOVVEEE) for warmth. Don't buy this thinking its all you'll need, because you will end up freezing to death. It acts as a good outer layer for heavy winds and small rain, but it won't be affective at all if you don't layer effectively.

The only problem I have with this jacket is that the cuffs are small and not stretchable. This means that when I'm wearing a sports watch or when I'm layering, it becomes hard for me to take off the jacket as the cuff by the wrist is too tight. I actually have to take off my watch in order to take the jacket off. This is the only negative I can think of but I would pay an extra $50 just to have that changed.

All in all, I love this jacket! If you can get by the whole cuff thing, which is very annoying at times, then you'll be ok. I still give this jacket a 5 star however because its so good.

Comments about Arc'teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:

Picked this jacket up two years ago after eyeing it for awhile.
I did quite a bit of research into it pre-purchase after trying it on during a trip to REI. I was 100% satisfied. I am 6' 3" and 200 LBs - the large fits me perfectly. The arms are just right, torso is great, and nothing is tight/or too small. It catches the eye, and is certainly a jacket that compliments whatever your look is.

It has proven itself against wind, snow, and even rain - but it is NOT waterproof. However, if you use a DWR treatment, it holds up just fine. It is warm, but doesn't have much loft so layer-up in extra-cold situations (I knew this before purchasing, and it fulfills every expectation I had). Great for any physical activity. I've used for snow running, skiing, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and even kayaking.

If it's rainy, or colder I use it along with the Beta SL, and it's the perfect combo. Weighing in at only 39 Oz together.
I use it for search and rescue, and extreme conditions as much as I use it casually.

Altogether I give it a 4.5 out of 5, for not having one zippered interior pocket. However, I'm happy that it doesn't have more exterior pockets. This adds to the stream-lined look.

Comments about Arc'teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:

I've used the Venta hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. It is high quality and has taken mild abuse well (e.g., branches, rocks). The jacket is not warm and must be worn with layers appropriate for the outside temperature and winds. Neither is the jacket waterproof, so an outside WP layer is necessary for that type of protection. Previous writer's comment about a *motorcycle jacket fit* is accurate, but I've longer arms...

Comments about Arc'teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:

I did quite a bit of research on Arc'Teryx softshells. There weren't that many reviews on this jacket being that it is fairly new to market. Normally I wait for more reviews on something like this but I have bought Arc'Teryx jackets in the past and figured that this should be a slam-dunk in terms of quality and fit. I was only half right unfortunately.

I should have asked Santa for longer arms for Christmas. I believe that Arc'Teryx sized this a tad longer in comparison to their older jackets. I don't think Arc'Teryx has ever offered "Tall" sizes and I know that a number of people in the past have complained about the sleeves being too short and I am guessing this is the end result. This soft shell jacket absolutely fits just like a motorcycle jacket. Form fitting to the body and long in the arms. I have come across a previous review mentioning this particular issue so I know I'm not alone on this.

Now with that being said, I liked this jacket so much that I almost considered getting it tailored to fit my arm length better. However because all the seams are welded including the leading edge of the cuff, I knew that the finished cuff wouldn’t be the same and for the price (not cheap), I should not have to spend extra to make it fit better for this kind of jacket.

All in all, sleeve fitment aside, you do get what you pay for on this jacket. All three different types of Gore Windstopper fabric are seam welded together which creates a well-designed, comfortable and streamlined soft shell jacket. It has the classic Arc’Teryx form fitting and gusseted arm feel that I like. It is incredibly light, cold resistant, comfortable (especially the neck cuff) and breathable. The exterior feels and appears to be durable. One of the main reasons why I picked this particular Arc’Teryx soft shell jacket was because of the Gore Windstopper. Keep in mind that there isn’t a lot of loft to keep you warm, so layer (if you can) for warmth if you’re planning on being stationary in the cold. Other than that, it would have been a perfect “go to” jacket if it hadn’t been for the sleeve fitment.

I give it 3 out of 5 stars. 2 stars off for sleeve fitment and the fact I will be returning this item because of it.
