Comments about The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's:
I live in this coat. I run colder than most people (I think) and wear this coat in LA! I bought it to wear in Washington and Colorado during the winter but I found it so comfy I wear it almost everywhere I need to go if it's cold and/or windy. The only con is that I look like I'm wearing a sleeping bag but I don't care.

Comments about The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's:
I've walked with this jacket in the rain, hiked in the forest for hours in the cold and it has kept me perfectly warm. I wore a thin shirt underneath and it was perfect for hiking. I wore a thicker long sleve shirt and took it to Oregon during christmas and it kept me warm in the freezing cold. Loved that it was long and blocked the wind on my legs. I love this jacket!

Comments about The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's:
I've had my eye on this coat since last year, primarily to keep from the waist to my knees warm while walking in and around my city. I walk on average 5 miles per day and when it's winter, having a little extra length makes all the difference. I don't know that this coat would be warm enough for truly frigid temperatures, but for our winters (temperatures usually don't get much colder than mid-teens and usually stay around freezing), it's a perfect match.
I wish it were also waterproof since our winters tend to be rainy, but i just tote an umbrella as well.
Stylish and doesn't make me look like a marshmallow! I'm 5'10" and the large is the perfect sleeve length and hits just above my knee.
Service and delivery comments:
Always impressed with REI delivery and service. Arrived before scheduled date, in perfect condition.

Comments about The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's:
This is my first North Face and it's worth the money. From the winter perspective, this coat stands out as light weight and warm, yet it stands the test of wind and low temps. This coat is perfect for a Chicago winter! It is thin in appearance but provides so much warmth. The hood completely detaches which is a big plus, the pockets are insulated to protect cold hands and the down keeps you warm enough and you can layer with a sweater or sweatshirt underneath. However, the hood does not protect my face so I need a scarf on those cold windy days. Actually, the hood can be described as a little flimsy. All in all the coat is super warm but not bulky. Fit is very flattering too. My XS fits perfectly (I'm 5'2 and 116 lbs), with room to comfortably wear a sweater or sweatshirt if needed.

Comments about The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's:
I bought this coat on sale towards the end of a very warm winter, so I got a great deal, but I have only worn it a few times. I can see this being my favorite cold weather coat for many years to come. Great for walking the dog or running erands.

Comments about The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's:
I love this coat!! It is long and does cover your legs and butt to keep you warm but not to warm. I also have the North Face Artic Parka and I often found I was sweating unless I was walking around in temperatures way below zero. It keeps you warm but not to warm. However the hood is a little small it does not cover my head the same way as my North Face Artic Parka.

Comments about The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's:
This is the first puffy coat that does NOT make me look like the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man! It is good looking, and comfortable, whether I am walking the dog, running errands or even driving a car. The hood is really functional as well and does a great job of blocking out the wind. And it comes in a color other than black - I bought the dark green - which is another plus for me. All in all, it is the perfect coat for our winters in Wisconsin.

Comments about The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's:
It is toasty warm, windproof, but worried about its waterproof ability. I have seen the goose feathers come out since I bought it a month ago, but only twice. The zipper can be a challenge.

Comments about The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's:
The only negative is the zipper doesn't work smoothly. Otherwise it is great! Lightweight, warm and waterproof. I wear this coat all winter long especially on the early mornings when I'm in my scrubs heading to the hospital.

Comments about The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's:
This is a great coat for LIVING in a cold climate. It's stylish enough to not be embarrassing to wear out, but is comfortable and tough for the elements. The sizing is pretty true, but slightly on the small side I'd say. The best part is that it is very warm while being extremely lightweight and not very bulky for a down coat. The length is perfect, and helps keep your lower body warm as well.
