Comments about Snow Peak LiteMax Stove:
Used this on a few short backpacking trips so far and plan on taking it on the JMT in August. A lot lighter than my last set up (MSR Whisperlite Intl) and much better temp control. You might want to improvise a windscreen for it if you will be somewhere with any wind.

Comments about Snow Peak LiteMax Stove:
I travel fast and light. I use this mostly for FBC and coffee. In my heat exchange pot I consistently get sub 2:00 boils with this stove. I also have a MSR Microrocket, and a Olicamp Kinetic Ultra / Montauk Gnat. I much prefer the Snow Peak for it's flame pattern, pot supports, and output. From now on, if I'm not using Esbit or alcohol, I'll be using the Litemax!

Comments about Snow Peak LiteMax Stove:
I bought this product in 2010 and have used it on 5 peaks over 22000 feet in the Andes at temperatures down to -20, together with many over 13000 feet. It has just failed and I'm buying another. If the gas is kept warm (sleeping bag) it always lights, it melts ice to a boil quickly and generally works the way it should. With the right sized pot it's stable, with a large pot not exactly. A loose windshield would be nice, but I admit to going solo and cooking inside the tent (which you're not supposed to -ever- as it can be dangerous, like, tent fire).

Comments about Snow Peak LiteMax Stove:
This little stove is a great stove for many reasons. My favorite is that it has yet to let me down. I had trouble deciding between canister and liquid stoves, but I'm glad I have this one.
There are some things you need to know about fuel types. Last winter, November, Middle Fork of the Salmon at 6,700, single digit temps. I had the fuel in the white and gold cans, my buddy had the fuel in the red cans. Long story short, buy the fuel in the red cans. You will still have to sleep with it in your bag, but it's muuuuuch better at low temps, high alt.

Comments about Snow Peak LiteMax Stove:
This is a great stove for what it is. It is not the most stable stove out there but it does the job and does it well. This stove takes up so little space and weighs so little its almost easy to over look the fact you need a separate piece of equipment to light it. That, in my opinion, is its only real drawback. However, I always carry the means to make a spark anyway so its not a deal breaker to me.

Comments about Snow Peak LiteMax Stove:
I have used this stove about a dozen times in the high uintah mountains May of 2012 -- very small -- be carefull or you will misplace or just lose it -- at 2 ounces it was the lightest backpacking stove i could find -- lights up easy and does a nice job simmering and fires up hot at 10000 feet in temperatures just below freezing and will bring quart H2o to boil in good time -- its way small and for that reason not the most stable stove but its ok if your careful -- The negative is buying compressed fuel cans over and over again -- a traditional type MSR can run off the same gallon can of coleman fuel all summer -- An MSR is therefore more cost effective to operate -- but if your into lightweight backpacking and tired of packing extra weight on your back then go with this stove -- nice little toy -- well designed - just go buy it --

Comments about Snow Peak LiteMax Stove:
The "titanium" arms on this baby buckled after one use. Was boiling a small pan of water on it - not super heavy. Medium flame. When I took the pan off, I saw that the arms were distorted and bucking inwards. Super disappointing.

Comments about Snow Peak LiteMax Stove:
This is a great ultralight stove. Weighs a bit less than an MSR Pocket Rocket and seems to be a little more efficient (which means less fuel to carry). With a pot of water on this stove, it can be a bit tippy, so you need to find a level surface to cook (but 90% of canister stoves have this problem, so it's no big deal). I only use it to boil water, so I can't speak to it's simmering ability. Since I use it mostly in PA, I also have no idea how it works at high altitude. For my purposes, I couldn't ask for more!

Comments about Snow Peak LiteMax Stove:
I have used one of these for over 200 days of backpacking until finally it is time to buy another. The folding tips fell off and the valve is having some problems but for all the use it has gotten it was money well spent.
