Comments about Planet Bike Superflash - Red / Blaze Bike Light Set:
I received this light set as gift after the mount broke on a cheaper set I had earlier. The improvements are boundless, better fastening to the bike and much brighter than what I had before.
The rear light is incredibly bright and in flashing mode makes you much easier to see in dimmer light. The clip down style on the mountain for this might lead to it coming off if you going over a curb or large bump, but I have not experienced this even on the horrific pot hole filled streets of St. Paul.
The front light is mainly for visibility of you to traffic and I would not recommend this for use on a trail or other dimly lit area at night, but for commuting it works great.
The only down side i have found so far, is since putting the front light onto my new road bike, the handle bars are so thick the mount barely fits, even with being adjustable. The rear light's mount is far more adjustable at fits a range of seat post sizes.
Overall I think this is a great product for commuting, if you are looking to be out on a trail at night, I would suggest something brighter.

Comments about Planet Bike Superflash - Red / Blaze Bike Light Set:
Whenever I'm on my bike these are on, even during my daytime commute to work and back. I angled the headlight a bit to flash directly at vehicles coming off of side streets. These lights have saved me several times coming in and out of shaded areas. I get thumbs up from local police too. Your life is worth a few batteries now and then.

Comments about Planet Bike Superflash - Red / Blaze Bike Light Set:
I went into the store to get the tail light part of this set. I was following a bike that had one and was impressed that it darn near blinded me!
I got the set as I didn't have a headlight either and together they were at an attractive price.
The headlight is really only useful for safety, as a device to get other people's attention.
When using it as illumination, it basically lights up the pothole you're about to fall into!
Still, if one is aware of its limitations, I give it a "thimb up.!

Comments about Planet Bike Superflash - Red / Blaze Bike Light Set:
I use this set to make myself visible while training at dawn or dusk on the narrow roads of Hong Kong. The flash on the headlamp and tail light is great and certainly gets the attention of drivers. The taillight has preformed flawlessly for nearly two years. The headlamp circuitry is susceptible to getting wet when caught in a rainstorm or even riding in very high humidity. When wet the light takes on a persona of its own as it begins to turn off and on by itself, or increasing the frequency of flashing to such a point that the brightness is severely diminished. The only redeeming factor is that placing the headlamp into a jar of rice overnight seems to normalize the circuitry and restore the light to original standards. If you ride in a place with frequent rain, then this headlamp is not a reliable safety device.

Very thin plastic blade mount broke on second use (son fell over and it broke off). Mount is not nearly as thick robust as my own CatEye headlight.

I would not recommend this I ride at night on somewhat dirt roads and the mount comes loose very easily and I am not satisfied with this. Too bad I ordered on a different site for cheaper and this is the same exact model.

Comments about Planet Bike Superflash - Red / Blaze Bike Light Set:
Ok..so outside of the weak front beam. (I don't think this light is for pitch black trail application). The flashing mode is EXCELLENT, you can be seen for blocks in ambient light city riding. You definitely NEED to use this light with another "steady" front light if you need to illuminate your path.
Which brings me to the 2 star rating point. The rear tail light is no doubt bright. However, the tail light clips over, not onto or through, any mounting. Consequently---what happened to me---if you leave the street, ie..go over curbs, down a few stairs, cut across a bumpy non-paved portion of your ride, the clip "over" tail light will bounce and bounce until it falls off.
Very poorly designed in this regard. But I found the perfect solution. Buy the front light singularly (go up a watt)and instead of the set, buy the Serfas TL-ST Bike Light. Bright, secure, water proof...outstanding product and you'll find the perfect combo.

Comments about Planet Bike Superflash - Red / Blaze Bike Light Set:
I bought this a year ago to use for my bike commute to/from work. I wanted a low cost product that would make me visible to traffic and would provide just enough light to be able to safely ride down the road.
The superflash rear taillight is excellent. Very bright and in strobe mode makes you impossible to miss.
The blaze front headlight, on the other hand, is not worth wasting your money on. The half watt LED is sufficient if you are alone on a dark smooth road, but as soon as there is an oncoming car you will be unable to see any detail on the road in front of you. Not a problem if you are on pristine road, but biking home in the winter in Pennsylvania I have had more than one scary close call encountering some surprise ice chunks/ branches/ roadkill.
In addition to the inadequate light output, the handlebar mounting bracket does not firmly support the front headlight. The center of mass of the headlight is offset from the mounting point. This combined with the tightening limitation on the mounting bracket means that the headlight slowly droops down w/ every small bump and every minute or so i need to reach down and readjust. Bad design.
In conclusion, if low cost is your #1 priority then MAYBE consider buying this product. If you don't want to be disappointed every time you need to make it home in the dark, then spend some extra money and get a real bike headlight.

Not waterproof, after less than a year both lights are shorting out. Worthless.

Comments about Planet Bike Superflash - Red / Blaze Bike Light Set:
I had a budget, did my homework and this is where I arrived. While I did expect good marking for the front beam, I did not expect it to be so weak that I would want to supplement with a helmet light, but this was the case. My morning commute is in the dark. Trails provide little if no light, so it's important to have a wider spread on the beam, flashing or not. The Blaze will light well enough, but the area is just too confined to rely on completely in my opinion.
The rear SuperFlash, on the other hand, exceeds expectations. It is both very bright and flashes in a pattern that pulls your attention to it. I just don't see how motorists could miss this. It's so bright that looking directly into it will leave you seeing spots for a few seconds. It's even bright enough to burn and be seen during the day.
I had no problem with either mount. Those that have issues with the front bracket may not be reading the instructions, as I can see how having the tensioner reversed might make it seem like you can't get it tight enough.
Battery life is excellent. Just be sure to invest in rechargeables.
