    Comments about REI Trail Stool:

I like how compact and light this stool is, but the small size of the tripod seat always smashes my junk! I'm 6'2 and 220 pounds, so smaller folks may have a better time of it, but I can't find a way to sit in this chair without feeling painfully squeezed, so I usually end up siting on the ground.

      Comments about REI Trail Stool:

At the end of a long day in the outdoors, it's nice to be able to kick back at the campsite. But there's no real camping footstool that I've ever found other than a log so I thought this would work out well and it does. It's too low to the ground for me for sitting, but to elevate and relax around the campfire it's great. Nice back up seating for kids too. It's lightweight, priced competitively, and velcros at the feet. No complaints!

      Comments about REI Trail Stool:

It's not a bad backcountry stool, in theory. Just strap it to your pack and you won't notice it's there until you take a break or make camp.

However, one of the footpads cracked on the debut outing on the Superior Hiking Trail this winter. The second footpad cracked just this weekend. Once the footpad cracks, it's difficult to use the straps to secure the legs.

I may have just had a bad experience

        Comments about REI Trail Stool:

Bought this stool for backpacking and I must say I don't see myself going without it now. It makes cooking so much easier and not to mention just relaxing by the campfire. I would like to upgrade to the REI Flex Lite chair, which a buddy had on a recent trip and was amazingly comfortable however for the weight you can't beat this stool. If you are a car camper I would suggest a full chair, but this trail stool is just that... for the trail.

        Comments about REI Trail Stool:

This little trail stool is awesome! I originaly bought it to keep up off the ground in tick season but since then it has been a constant companion on many adventures; usually clipped to the back of my pack hanging down like a tail behind me. I don't even notice it until I wanna take a 5. Then I just pop it down and thats that.

I've also found good use for this thing from doing camp chores to taking a break behind work. Anytime I want a seat its sitting in my car waiting. On camping or backpacking trips you cant beat it... poof instant seat.

        Comments about REI Trail Stool:

My husband got one for when he goes hiking and i thought it was silly since but then i sat on it in the garage while chatting with him while he stood and i loved it so much that i ordered 1 for myself! Not silly at all! ;) We'll just keep them in the garage for when we decide to chat there again and take them with us on any hikes and trips. I suppose that it's too bulky and heavy for backcountry or cross country hikes cuz that's when every oz matters, but it's perfect for all other uses.

Great backpacking stool and very nice to have when on the trail. So light you don't know you are carrying it and easy to pack on the side of your backpack. Keep your rear off the ground and get this stool.

            Comments about REI Trail Stool:

I bought this trail stool to use while I do landscape photography. it is light enough/compact to easily strap to my camera backpack (Lowepro ProTrekker AW400). It works well for sitting on to rest while taking pictures, but I also got it to use as a small table to rest my camera bag on if I dont want to set it on the wet/muddy/snowy ground. it isnt the most stable for that, considering it is meant for your butt to sit on, but in a pinch, you can use it as a temporary table. The velcro strap used to hold the legs together while it is closed is nice. All-in-all it is a nice little (somewhat dual purpose) trail stool.

            Comments about REI Trail Stool:

This is a light weight stool- compact and easy to carry into the woods or around when you need a place to sit. It is not a comfortable chair for long periods- We use it to hike with, and as a stool to sit on at events like Ironman Races where you sit and wait for the althelete to run past- then move to the next view point.

We love these- and have 8 of them- they go on sale often... but we also realize that they are not something we would want to have at our car camp or base camp... but work great strapped to a pack for the back country.
