The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated4out of5byHannamanfromLove the colorI use this jacket for biking in the rain and it is definitely waterproof, warmer than most rain jackets, and a beautiful bright blue. The material isn't comfortable but I would rather be seen, dry, and warm.

Rated4out of5byAM Scramblingfromkeeps you dryThis is the second jacket that I have purchased. The first one did allow me to get out in most rain storms and walk without getting wet which was impressive for NW Washington.

Rated5out of5bySimBot23fromLove!I love the color and the fit. I'm always looking for something that's the right length (not too short, not too long) in the sleeves and the torso and this jacket is perfect! Super lightweight and roomy enough to allow a jacket underneath but keep its flattering shape.

Rated2out of5byTABfromWet thru in 20 minsUsed the product around town, day hiking and backpacking.
Went to the UK and hiked 15 miles of truly difficult hiking in 24 hours in the Lake District fells (awesome!!). Did not get a drop of rain there then went to Edinburgh, Scotland where it was raining a lot.
The very first day it was raining pretty steady. My dad had his Arc'teryx Beta AR (from REI) and I had this Marmot. His Beta AR was perfect.
Mine, sadly, was truly terrible. We were both shocked to find that after only about 20 mins I was beginning to feel water inside. It was a very cool day and we were just walking in town so no heavy exertion to create sweat. After 40 mins we stopped in a store to look at what I was feeling and sure enough, I was getting soaked.
I got this jacket around Christmas 2012 and only used it around town and a few day hikes until our July 2013 trip. Was surprised to see how well my dad's Beta beaded water and mine did not at all.
Anyway, took it back to REI and they readily took it back. Got the women's version of his Beta AR. Much more expensive but should be worth it. Thank God it did not rain on our Lake District backpacking or I would have been in big trouble.

Rated5out of5byfiddleskittlefromMy Idea of PerfectI am 5'3", 130 lbs with a 34C chest, so pretty much right in between a small and a medium in most things. I spent about an hour at REI trying on this jacket in a sm and med, and the PreClip and the Torrentshell in sm and med....I ended up with the Minimalist in a small and am SO HAPPY with it. Things I love about this jacket: I can fit a base layer and a midlayer under this and it still fits great; it is a basic rain jacket without a lot of bells and whistles - just my style; the Bright Grass color is gorgeous; it truly is waterproof; and the back comes down far enough over the top of my pants that I can bike to work in this jacket without getting rain down my pants. Yes, it's expensive, but from what I can tell so far, it's well worth it.

Rated4out of5byKateradefromVery nice jacketI've had mine for about 6 months and it's been out on fieldwork quite a few times now. It keeps you DRY with very little clamminess (thank you GoreTex!), and I often wear it as a windbreaker. It fits nicely over fleeces, and has enough toggle points to allow you to cinch it up when it's your only outer layer. I very much appreciate that the "velcro" on the sleeves isn't the typical velcro and doesn't stick to everything known to man. The hood also has a fair amount of chin protection, which is nice to have when the wind really gets going. Mine also stood up VERY well to the significant amount of brush it's encountered.
Some bones to pick: the hood is adjustable, but isn't quite large enough to accommodate my ponytail. When the hood goes up I have to either put on a hat or re-do my hair, neither of which is a big deal but gets kind of annoying. Also I would love to have a zip-in option for fleeces, which would make the jacket more versatile.
