Comments about Topeak MTX TrunkBag DXP with Expandable Side Panniers:
I used these for commuting to work for the past year.... about 3000 miles. These were my first set of panniers, so I was excited. They held all my stuff fine, though I needed an extra case for my pc and it is awkward to carry. One day the bag fell off by rack. Aparently I thought it was clipped in, but it wasn't. I broke my computer. It happened again a few months later (and then the handle tore off). If you get this, be sure the bag is secured properly. It is easy to miss if you're in a rush or installing it has become habit. Besides the two massive holes that have formed on the bottom, here's the biggest drawback: CENTER OF GRAVITY. I recently replaced these with regular panniers that sit much lower. The center of gravity is much lower and as a result, there is a night and day difference in ride quality - much safer and more manueverable. I'm taking tight turns, weaving in and out now just because I can - I would never try that with a bag that sits as high as this one. So, don't get it, you'll be much happier with something like the Novara gotham set of panniers.

So far I am very pleased. Fully expanded it holds plenty for several days. Folded up in its smallest size it fits on the back of the bike just like it should and easily holds a days worth of my needs. Exactly what I wanted.

This bag is great! It is the perfect size for a short ride or a day trip. I have been afraid to use a bag on the bike for fear it would make the bike feel off balance or unstable. I can't even tell that I have this on the bike. The storage is great it will hold tools food and extra clothing. I can't imagine riding without this even for short distance rides I love it.

Topeak climbs these bags will fit on ALL Topeak Quicktrack racks. That is absolutely not true. The newer ones, yes. The older ones have a higher bar to hook on to on the front, thus making it ready to slide off the bike anytime. I found this out the hard way.
Additionally, the warranty covers very little and very little time period compared to the price of the bag,

I love that I can use this as something that sits on my bike but also easily click it out for bringing into the grocery store. I bought the bright yellow REI brand one, and I didn't like that I had to get bags to bring my groceries to my bike, and then use those bags to bring my groceries from my bike to my apartment. Obviously, this bag solves that problem.
I have the bag hooked onto a seatpost rack, which I like because I can easily take it on and off for when I use my bike on the trails. I don't like that the rack doesn't come with the side rails - you have to buy those separately, making this unit a really expensive endeavor.
When I have it on my bike, though, my rear end touches the tip of the bag, and I wouldn't say I have a big rear end. My body jogs the bag back and forth a little, so it makes it seem less stable. But I think I will get used to this... not a deal-breaker for me.
Overall, my only complaint is that it is super pricey, but it is totally worth it when put side-by-side with other options that I've tried from REI.

Love this expandable trunk bag. Can transport a change of clothes, shoes, and a small laptop in the side panniers on my 20-mile roundtrip daily commute. Holds a ton.
Next version: (1) I'd love to see them make it hold even more, say 1900 cubic inches; and (2) include the $20 rain covers with the trunkbag as this is a commuter accessories for our bikes.

Comments about Topeak MTX TrunkBag DXP with Expandable Side Panniers:
I love, love, love this bag. When I started commuting to work I wanted something that would carry everything I seem to think I need to schlep to work (sometimes everything but the kitchen sink), but can shrink up when I'm riding for fun. This bag does it all. I often get caught in the rain, and I have yet to have a problem with things getting wet. The paniers are large enough to fit my 15" laptop. Heck, it even has a coffee cup (aka water bottle) holder on the back. I've been using it for 3 years now and continue to be happy with it. Highly recommended.
