I put Vitalyte and refrigerator-cold water in a vacuum-insulated, 64 oz. growler and take 5 or 6 swallows each time I change sides during tennis matches. It gives me an immediate energy boost. Wouldn't play without it, particularly in the Florida heat.

Vitalyte is hands-down the best value in the sports drink industry. I've had the opportunity to participate in beta tests for other (much more expensive) brands, and side-by-side this product performs every bit as well. Each container costs significantly less than comparable products (about half from what I've seen) and yet it makes MORE (sometimes up to twice as much) product.

I've only had the grape flavor, which I loved. It's a very light flavor, just enough that you know it's not water. This stuff goes down easy, too. I can drink down an entire 24oz bottle of this stuff in a few seconds. No chalky, sandy, gritty mess in your bottle (or your mouth), it's as smooth as pure water.

On those days when you just don't feel well, you know you're dehydrated, or are sick - this stuff is great because it gives you hydration and electrolytes you need without making you feel worse. It's kind of a cure-all around my house.

Bottom line: if you're searching for a good all-around energy/electrolyte mix, you've found it. Highly recommended.

I had to order this item on-line then pick it up at the nearest store but it was worth it. I like the lemonade flavor but I love the orange flavor. I am so glad I found something that is easy on my stomach. This mix is not too sweet and not too salty. It's just right!

Best overall electrolyte drink out there, in my experience. I've been using it for years now. The price is less than half of some other drink powders. Clean and crisp (and desireable!) flavors. I most recommend the cool citrus and lemonade flavors - they are the easiest to drink consistently and long-term if you use drink mixes often. While some drink mixes advertise their lack of sugar (and calories), I'm a fan of the moderately sweet taste and the little sugar bump it gives during an adventure. Great performance for workout recovery. Works just as well for alpine climbing as for a hangover, too.

I personally liked this flavor best, but it permanently ruined a $10 no-odor-no-taste water bottle. It not only stained it orange, it left a permanent orange odor as well. Nothing I tried removed it completely (though isopropanol removed some). None of the other flavors did this, only Zesty Orange. I had bought the smaller 4-serving packets of each flavor, intending to buy the 80-serving container of whichever I liked best; I still bought the large container, but I was forced to choose one of the non-staining flavors that wasn't really my preference.

I contacted Gookinaid about the staining, and they acknowledged the problem, were aware of it and apologized, but refused to reimburse me for the ruined bottle. I was told that the problem was the beta carotene they had added to it FOR COLORING. I would have been more understanding if they had placed a clearly worded caution on the package, but they failed to do even that in spite of being aware of it. Fortunately REI was understanding instead, and replaced the specific bottle (that I had bought there). Thank goodness I didn't try this out in my water bladder.

You've been warned: be prepared to dedicate whatever (plastic) container you put the Zesty Orange flavor in to the exclusive use of it.

I was introduced to Gookinaide during a circuit of the wonderland trail back in the 80's and I have been using it as my primary liquid replenishment since then.

It is a simple formula designed by a biochemist to exactly replace the salts and sugars that are released in high exertion. No more no less. I agree with the designers view that you dont want more, You want homeostasis and that is what this gives.

Now I train a company of 12 aerialists. I push them to limits that few athletes reach and there are often times where people get shaky from rapid blood sugar loss. Rehearsals are fast and hard. During those peak training times I require them to use Hydralyte as it has the smoothest glucose replenishment of anything out there, the body just calms down and returns to center.

Around the house we also use it for the times when the commute home was a little fast and dinner is a little slow, or other such surprise sugar crashes. I have also started to use it for a recovery drink and it is working surprisingly well for light to medium work outs.

I can not express how much I like this product, it is an honest tool made by a man who really wanted to help fellow athletes. Try some of this when you are really really out there on the edge and like all the rest of the reviewers, you will agree Bill Gookin is a saint!

I HAVE ONLY HAD ORANGE SO FAR AND THE TASTE IS GREAT. SOME OF THE OTHER REVIEWERS RECOMMENDED IT. NOT TOO SWEET AND DISSOLVES WELL. THIS IS GOING TO BE THE ELECTROLYTE DRINK OF CHOICE FROM NOW ON. THE PRICE IS EXCELLENT FOR THE AMOUNT YOU GET.
