Shady camping atop a piney bluff awaits visitors to this big lake. Trout Lake is big—3,816 acres in size to be exact. And out of all that shoreline, Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest personnel may have picked the prettiest spot of all to develop North Trout Lake Campground. Here, the shoreline rises high up a hill covered in mixed pines. Campsites are situated both down near the lake and atop a high bluff that gives a commanding view of this fish-filled lake. So grab your tent (and maybe some binoculars) and head on up to Trout Lake.
