Summit Lake Campground
Summit Lake is an example of a well-developed recreation area, not as in overly developed, but developed to the point of making the area more user friendly. The two forks of Coats Run once quietly dropped down to the North Fork Cherry River. Now they feed the impoundment of Summit Lake, which rests in a flat high above the North Fork Cherry River. A scenic hiking trail lies around Summit Lake, which is stocked for fishing. Other pathways comb the area and lead to the primitive Cranberry Backcountry, where there are more hiking, fishing, and nature study opportunities. Beyond this lies still more Monongahela National Forest pursuits.
