Granite Falls, WA
This steep but scenic trail to rocky Gothic Basin is perched high above the Sauk River Valley and historic Monte Cristo townsite. Good camps can be found in the basin, and glacier-carved country invites further wandering from Foggy Lake under the shadows of Del Campo Peak into the heather-and-rock country beyond. For an interesting side excursion, explore Monte Cristo, an easy 3-mile walk or mountain bike ride up the road from the trailhead (4 miles from Barlow Pass).
