River Trail

This loop trail follows the wide Clarion River on the edge of Clear Creek State Park through evergreens and rhododendrons. The river can be viewed on two levels; on the lower part of the loop you walk directly along its banks and on the upper portion you hike through the mossy forest from which there are views of the river below. An optional spur at the top of the loop is available for hikers who wish to go a little further. The hike is described to follow the loop clockwise, but the trail can easily be hiked from either direction, or the riverside portion can be hiked out and back, for those who prefer to stick close to the water’s edge. Note that hikers should use caution in this area during hunting season.
