Beaver Dam and Tamarack Trails
This short, easy hike in Pymatuning State Park offers a closeup view of a beaver dam as the trail follows the edge of a bay in Pymatuning Lake, crosses the bay at the beaver dam, where recent beaver activity might be observed, and loops back into the woods where white-tailed deer are frequently seen bounding off through the trees. The loop described here combines the nicest features of both the Beaver Dam and Tamarack Trails. It is best to do this hike early or late in the day for the best chance of observing ducks, beavers, deer, and other wildlife. If you go in midsummer, however, take along some insect repellent. The mosquitoes in this moist area are hungry.
