This challenging, highly scenic trail leads to one of the region’s prettier waterfalls. Beginning at the Sky Lakes’ second lowest trailhead (3,800 feet), the route’s lower portions open up fairly early. You can usually make it to Red Blanket Falls by mid-May and to Stuart Falls a month later. Highlights: This trail begins in a low-elevation, old-growth forest, climbs along a steep, waterfall-laden gorge, and wanders past high-elevation meadows. It ends up at one of the prettiest waterfalls around. Options abound.
