Allaire State Park Trails
The restored 1830s village at Allaire State Park is a first-rate example of historical restoration. This self-contained community has an outstanding collection of period buildings, including a general store, blacksmith and carpenter’s shops, and a church, as well as numerous artifacts from this time period. In addition, several of the buildings are staffed by guides in period costumes. This old iron-making village is definitely worth a look, either before or after your ride, but it is strictly for pedestrians—no bikes allowed. A good portion of Allaire State Park lies south of both the village area and the Manasquan River, which bisects the park. This is the area where bicyclists are allowed on the park’s multi-use trails.
