University Forest Conservation Area
The 7,100-acre University Forest Conservation Area is home to an 18-mile horse trail that is a novice mountain biker's dream. Marked with gray diamonds and a few yellow blazes, two-thirds of it meanders through woods on hard-packed single-track. The rest of the route follows old logging traces and a few short stretches on gravel roads. It's wonderful for beginners because it passes through semi-wilderness on trails that have only a few short, steep, or rocky sections. Five road crossings allow shorter options for those not up to the complete distance. More experienced riders will love it, too, especially the narrow, twisty, smooth single-track stretch south of MO KK. This trail is located 15 miles north of Poplar Bluff.
