Holly Bay Campground
As the baby boom generation ages I sometimes fear the pastime of tent camping will be lost in the graying of America. When the forest service revamps a campground, as they have at Holly Bay, it is heartening to see them install walk-in tent sites instead of turning everything into a more RV-compatible area. Holly Bay not only reassures me that tent camping is here to stay, but it also has some of the best tent campsites in this book. And these tent sites are set on one of Kentucky’s cleanest, clearest lakes—Laurel River Lake—where recreation opportunities surround you.
