Knobstone Trail: Leota to Elk Creek
On this route three hills and several ravines lead to a scenic lake. This can be hiked as a point-to-point (with car shuttle), cutting the distance in half. The trail from Leota to Elk Creek begins at an opening on the north side of the Leota parking lot near a small pond. Descend from the 1,000-foot elevation level of the Leota Trailhead along a ridgeline that leads to Vic Swain Hill at 1.5 miles. The hill marks a departure from the mostly northward direction that the Knobstone Trail (KT) has followed until now. From here, the trail heads west for 6 miles over a series of ridges and ravines. Special Attractions: Vic Swain Hill and the Elk Creek Fish and Game Area.
