Shingle Creek Ridge Loop
Boise Front, just northwest of the center of town. This is one of the more serious classics of the Boise Front. Terrain is widely varied, and the steep uphills are not so sustained or extreme in angle to make it a "pig-grunt". Climbing to the Boise Ridge, you leave behind the ubiquitous sate and cheatgrass; yellow pines, Douglas-fir, and aspen make it seem you are in a sub-alpine zone.
