Salt Springs Campground
Don’t be alarmed when you first pull into Salt Springs Campground—it looks like RV hell. This is not where you camp. There is a separate area for primitive campers, which in this case means tent campers. The primitive campground shows some signs of wear but will make do when you realize the recreational potential of Salt Springs. The Forest Service eventually plans to remodel the campground—when it gets the money. But for now, the primitive area will pass muster. It starts at the back of the RV area, closer to Salt Springs. The whole campground is on a slight slope that ends at the Salt Springs Run. Overhead is a thick canopy of live oak trees that shade almost the entire primitive area.
