Wetterhorn Peak
A spectacular and exposed fourteener climb. Wetterhorn Peak is an elegant and challenging member of the fourteeners club. Perhaps due to a short section of exposed scrambling just below the summit, it seems to receive much less traffic than does its sibling Uncompahgre Peak. Wetterhorn is remarkably difficult to view without considerable hiking; it is visible but not obvious from the highway north of Montrose. While Uncompahgre is easily visible from both U.S. Highways 50 and 550, to view Wetterhorn from the car you will have to drive almost all the way to Engineer Pass. Wetterhorn is a memorable and highly recommended peak climb
