Formerly known as the Big Blue, the Uncompahgre Wilderness encompasses a pair of Fourteeners, dozens of 13,000-foot summits, many miles of pristine streams, and some incredibly picturesque alpine basins. One of these scenic basins spans the head of Wetterhorn Creek in the western half of the wilderness. Accessed by a moderately easy trail, Wetterhorn Basin makes a memorable destination for hikers of many abilities.
