Waterloo Gulch
A day hike to a high mountain valley. In 1882 a pair of prospectors named John Abbett and John Lynch found traces of precious metals in Waterloo Gulch. They developed claims known as the Abbett Mine, Iron Horse, Ajax No. 1 and No. 2, and Italian Boy. Today, most of the signs of mining have disappeared, and a little-known trail leads up into this pretty hanging valley, making a fine day hike from the Texas Creek Trailhead.
