Waterdog Lake Trail
Lake City, CO

Waterdog Lake Trail
What a hike! You don’t need to drive if you are already in Lake City. Best of all, your dog will love it. The hike is on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land, so your pet can be off-leash. Since the trail winds through a forest, there is plenty of shade and water along the way. This hike was discovered through what turned out to be a fortuitous turn of events. Being stuck in Lake City because of car trouble we fretted that our hiking plans had to be canceled. A local resident who overheard us talking about our troubles suggested that we explore “Waterdog Reservoir” close to town. So we did while the car was being fixed.
