Walden & Sawhill Ponds Trail
More than 19 small ponds and wetlands, once mined for gravel, are scattered on 113 acres of restored habitat. Some of it is rough around the edges since the restoration began only in 1975, but there is a great deal of natural beauty shining through; the Sawhill Ponds are the more attractive of the two areas. It is a nice setting for enjoying a variety of winged and feathered friends, including pelicans, great blue herons, belted kingfishers, gulls, and geese, to name just a few of the 20 species spotted regularly here.
