This first trail you reach as you crest Trail Ridge Road is above treeline through the tundra and so has sensational views of Forest Canyon and one of the more amazing alpine massifs in the world. The parking lot is tiny so carpooling and an early start are necessary to beat fellow hikers and the common lightning and thunderstorms that often start around 11 AM. You can also climb up from the Lower Beaver Meadows Trailhead, where there is ample parking.
