Uncompahgre Peak Summit Trail
The colors, the views, and Uncompahgre’s distinct “wedding cake” shape will elevate your senses and psych you up to climb this peak. Most of this trek is above treeline on gentle, rolling alpine tundra. You’ll be in spacious, wide-open land the entire hike. The trail is well maintained and easy to follow. After a long, gradual ascent, there are a few moderate switchbacks and a brief, easy scramble to the flat and accommodating summit. It’s not a very long or difficult hike, but every foot of the trail will enliven your senses with incredible views and fresh mountain air.
